ho_co Posted January 29, 2013 Share #1  Posted January 29, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) New! Revlon ColorStay Ultimate Suede Lipstick - YouTube  Looks like an M9P, but has what looks like a black rubber plug in place of the red dot. Maybe Leica red clashed with Olivia Wilde's lipstick?  She handles the camera as if it were an SLR, with her hand under the lens.
Advertisement Posted January 29, 2013 Posted January 29, 2013 Hi ho_co, Take a look here Leica in Revlon ad. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Guest WPalank Posted January 29, 2013 Share #2 Â Posted January 29, 2013 I like the way she is focusing through the LCD and not the viewfinder. Must be the new M. Dr. Rhodes has some competition now.
andybarton Posted January 30, 2013 Share #3 Â Posted January 30, 2013 Â She handles the camera as if it were an SLR, with her hand under the lens. Â It's because she'd smudge all that make up if she used the M properly... Â Â (Can't believed that I've just watched a Revlon ad, just to see a Leica... I need to get a grip...) rramesh Posted January 30, 2013 Share #4 Â Posted January 30, 2013 Looks like an M9P, but has what looks like a black rubber plug in place of the red dot. Probably a lipstick plug. The Ad agency was probably under instruction not to promote another brand.

tappan Posted January 30, 2013 Share #6 Â Posted January 30, 2013 (Can't believed that I've just watched a Revlon ad, just to see a Leica... I need to get a grip...) Â A battery grip? :-)
alun Posted January 30, 2013 Share #7 Â Posted January 30, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) What can this all mean? Â That's what is most fascinating about it. It seems as if it must mean something - as if it must be rich in semiological meaning, if only we could decipher it. But it isn't. It means nothing. Â And yet on another level, of course, it does mean something -- it means that a bunch of guys are watching cosmetics adverts and trying to understand them.... Guest WPalank Posted January 30, 2013 Share #8 Â Posted January 30, 2013 (Can't believed that I've just watched a Revlon ad, just to see a Leica... I need to get a grip...) Â I can't believe Howard knew the name of the model/actress (I had to look her up). Â Maybe he can throw some light on which shade of make-up she was wearing, asked several times in the comment section by 16 year old girls?
Angora Posted January 30, 2013 Share #9 Â Posted January 30, 2013 She handles the camera as if it were an SLR, with her hand under the lens. Â More like a P&S, with her eye far from the viewfinder...

efreed2754 Posted January 31, 2013 Share #11 Â Posted January 31, 2013 The commercial is espousing class, beauty, being "in" and just plain more desirable. So it makes sense they would use a prop that reflects these ideals. . Â Should they use a Kodak or a Blackberry? Â Of course for those who consider our Beloved Leica jewelry will be giddy. philipus Posted January 31, 2013 Share #12 Â Posted January 31, 2013 Could it be fitted with a lipstick holder in the red dot, built in mirror in the Summicron and a nail file in the bottom plate? A special very limited edition sold only between 5th and 6th Ave, NY, NY.
Manolo Laguillo Posted January 31, 2013 Share #13 Â Posted January 31, 2013 Isn't it terrible how she holds the camera when putting it into the bag, touching the viewfinder's window, and inserting it in exactly the way it should not be done?
bybrett Posted January 31, 2013 Share #14 Â Posted January 31, 2013 I like the way she is focusing through the LCD and not the viewfinder. Must be the new M. Dr. Rhodes has some competition now. Â Yes it's the new M but I'm waiting until she leaks the DNG's...
zlatkob Posted January 31, 2013 Share #15 Â Posted January 31, 2013 I can't believe Howard knew the name of the model/actress (I had to look her up). Â Her name is shown at the beginning. Â What a perplexing ad ... it's like a series of photography mistakes. Â Looks like an M9P, but has what looks like a black rubber plug in place of the red dot. Â It is likely an M9. They put something to cover the "M9" too. M9P doesn't have a red dot. If they didn't want the "M9" or the red dot, they should have used the M9P. iedei Posted February 2, 2013 Share #20 Â Posted February 2, 2013 my favourite is how she doesn't even need to move to focus ring to focus. WITCHCRAFT!!!! At least she is into B&W street photography. Oh if Barnack wore lipstick.... Â it's obvious that the camera in that commercial is the Leica M11 (Typ250) prototype....which will be introduced in 2015 and will focus with a digital finger sensor and with only live view (and a decoy rangefinder window). Â oh and the shutter sound is simply clicktastic. lol.
