tobey bilek Posted January 19, 2013 Share #4 Posted January 19, 2013 Hilarious not if you received the wood. It is entirely possible the substitution was made at Canon, the shipper between Canon and distributor , or the final leg by Fed Ex on the way to you. I open the box in the store. But some do not have this option.
earleygallery Posted January 19, 2013 Share #5 Posted January 19, 2013 I've heard of this trick from con men selling stuff door to door or in the street but not when buying mail order. Must say it's a little odd and I'd be a bit suspicious if no one else had reported the same issue...
kdriceman Posted January 19, 2013 Share #6 Posted January 19, 2013 not if you received the wood. It is entirely possible the substitution was made at Canon, the shipper between Canon and distributor , or the final leg by Fed Ex on the way to you. I open the box in the store. But some do not have this option. You're right, I should elaborate on what's hilarious to me. Dell has become a bit of a joke commercially. They are no longer able to compete making computers. Their products suffer from inconsistent quality. Their customer service has a horrible reputation. So, rather than get their house in order, here they are trying to sell very high end cameras. I know it isn't funny if you're this poor guy... Or if you're a Dell shareholder. But if you've got a business background and you have watched Dell shoot itself in the foot the past decade, it is kind of funny..
Bill W Posted January 25, 2013 Share #7 Posted January 25, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) Now Michael Dell is trying to buy the company back so they do not need to contend with shareholders. He will make another pile of money. Rumor is he is buying a personal Boeing 787 Dreamliner.

Peter H Posted January 26, 2013 Share #9 Posted January 26, 2013 Now Michael Dell is trying to buy the company back so they do not need to contend with shareholders. Bill W Posted January 26, 2013 Share #10 Posted January 26, 2013 Are you sure that buying Dell will make him a pile of money? I'm not. Reading about the proposed deal, the "partners" are essentially purchasing a corporation that has no debt. Take it private. Dell has already been purchasing other companies that focus away from actually build computers and focus on services. After a few years another IPO. Its what bored billionaires do these days I guess....

algrove Posted February 16, 2013 Share #13 Posted February 16, 2013 The last Dell computer I ordered I had outfitted with a "New" RAID system in it since I had had so many HD failures with their computers. Sure enough the first HD failed after 5 months. I looked and looked in the instructions how to solve the problem and to know which drive had failed. I finally called Dell who could not help. but referred me to the company who designed the software. I called them and they could not help and did not know how to tell which drive to replace and suggested buying 2 drives. After disposing of the entire computer in the trash, I bought Macs for the entire family and thank Dell every day that they were such a lousy company. I love my 8 Macs.
