35/50 Summilux

I'm getting a Monochrom tomorrow and I need to buy a lens today. I have used a 50 Summilux in the past and love it but I was just offered a new 35mm Lux FLE. I am very tempted to try that instead. Can anyone comment on the bokeh between the two? Is it about the same? thanks

Coz, bo-ke is really not a fixed value. Its appearance if influenced by quite a number of factors when you shoot. However you could say that both of these lenses perform in a similar manner in that regard if you like.

My recommendation is to consider which focal length best suits you as a first lens and perhaps availability and budget too ;)

Here's one example from each which I think illustrate that they are perfectly capable of smooth "glow" often attributed to the older less well corrected designs.

I've not run a test film through using the 50 lux asph yet (despite having it longer than the 35lux) but there are plenty of samples in the net.
