cam2000 Posted December 22, 2012 Share #1 Â Posted December 22, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) I know it will sound like commercial! I think Jean Bardaji deserve praise for his outstanding service towards his loyal customers. After attending the Leica Academy in Montreal (October the 20th, 2012) I really liked the new Leica M Monochrom and placed an order. We are two months later and still no MM..... My dealer phoned me to say he had tried the impossible to get me one and he new I was counting on it for my up-coming trip! Â Jean Bardaji the owner of Camtec photo made me a great offer knowing how disappointed I felt, he is offering me free of charge a used black M9-P to take along for my trip. I have nothing but praise for this dealer and I have done business with him for many years.....
Advertisement Posted December 22, 2012 Posted December 22, 2012 Hi cam2000, Take a look here Montreal's Camtec photo (Leica Boutique). I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Michael Hiles Posted December 22, 2012 Share #2 Â Posted December 22, 2012 I agree completely. I don't buy much from Jean (I don't buy much anywhere), but the service, knowledge and welcome are top rate. I can second the recommendation 100%.
jplomley Posted December 24, 2012 Share #3 Â Posted December 24, 2012 Agree 100% regarding Jean's customer service. He does the best he can, unfortunately, Leica has some funky distribution issues that need to be sorted. I mean MM's are just sitting on the shelf in the UK, whilst Jean has 10 customers waiting for their MM's. Come on Leica, get with the program already. Why the back-log? It's not as if they are selling M-E's left right and centre and need to keep that production line running. So camera wise, exactly what are they manufacturing right now? Fireboy Posted January 21, 2013 Share #4 Â Posted January 21, 2013 Well, I have NOT been waiting for an MM, but I did buy a Voigtlander 75mm f1.9 lens from Jean a few months back. I'm also considering a Fuji 670 and have had communication with him about that. I've been very impressed with promptness and service. And I'm all the way in Vancouver. magosak Posted January 21, 2013 Share #5 Â Posted January 21, 2013 I live in Montreal but never bought from Camtech. I prefer to deal with my Ontario dealer as I pay only 5% in taxes. With my M9-P and 50mm Summilux purchases I saved over $1K.
mgcd Posted January 27, 2013 Share #6 Â Posted January 27, 2013 I concur about Jean Bardagi, a true gentleman. I cannot praise him enough.
gjames9142 Posted January 27, 2013 Share #7 Â Posted January 27, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) Jean, and Jeff Hirsch at Foto Care in New York, are two dealers who command my respect -- they love the medium and are engaged with photographers and are generous. It's about more than just retail.
Mylek Posted January 29, 2013 Share #8 Â Posted January 29, 2013 It is nice to save taxes sometimes but in the long term it will be worst to loose a great and generous dealer. When i started using Leica, many times, i had good advices from Jean. He is knowledgeable and passionate about Leica!
Ken S Posted February 3, 2013 Share #9 Â Posted February 3, 2013 Absolutely first rate dealer either online at the shop.
jplomley Posted February 3, 2013 Share #10 Â Posted February 3, 2013 I'd also like to add that Jean is a fine photographer with an exceptionally keen eye, and it's worth a trip to Camtec just to see his inspiring collection of images gracing the walls. nikkus Posted February 12, 2013 Share #11 Â Posted February 12, 2013 I can personally attest to the accuracy of everything said here about Jean Bardaji at Camtec in Montreal. He sold me my M7 and M8 and he may well be selling me my new M soon. He is extremely knowledgeable and helpful and a pleasure to talk about cameras and photography with. I am so lucky, imagine a camera nut whose wife actually encourages him to drive to Montreal to see Jean quite regularly.
