Michael, I've included a portion of the image at 100% without sharpening to let you see the true level of detail recorded - personally I'm continuously impressed with this lens! Remember this was shot at ISO 800!

 

In answer to the other question I use an adaptor that allows Leica R lenses to be used on Canon EOS bodies. There are some compromises in that you have to use stop down metering, and not all Leica lenses with work with the 5D - this is mainly a problem with the wide angle lenses and doesn't affect the other Canon digital cameras.

William I'd love to retire to France. The more I travel in South-West France in particular, the more I think it would be an ideal area to live - provided there weren't too many Brits ;-) - sea, mountains good food and drink it would be perfect. But the way pensions are behaving in the UK I'll probably be lucky to get there once a year ;-)

Very nice ... the 50mm is very under-used, if not exactly under-rated lens (as I suspect, is the 21-35)

 

really like the colour and composition of Steve's shot and I would love to see if Peter's would crop down to the figures on the left
