I'm looking for prepaid B&W film mailers. My daughter has a beautiful M3 with several perfectly good lenses. But, she uses SLR digital exclusively. I thought that if I gave her ( for Christmas) some B&W film with prepaid film mailers she might give the M3 a chance. If the mailer included a scanning service all the better. Y'all know of such?

She loves B&W by the way.

In the USA many years ago an anti-trust suit against Kodak forbade the sale of film with processing. I don't know if it applied to other companies.

I haven't found any film sold with mailers, but Freestyle sells B&WB processing mailers that include developing and either prints or scan to CD.

Jeffry, buy her one Portra 160 and tell her to run it through at EI 125 and send it off to Richard Photo Lab for her. See what she thinks of the results and let us know.

Pete, wouldn't overexposing a bit be better with Portra? I think you'll get creamier skin tones. With I guess that slight underexposing there's a risk of yucky browns or fogging showing up.

That's exactly what Pete suggested. However, the biggest risk is the lab processing these days! Not the exposure index.

Just buy a film and have it processed. What's the big deal about paying up front?

You're right Erl. Shouldn't be a big deal. I recently found these guys and they did a nice job on the first couple rolls of film I had them process. They will get you mailers or you can download a shipping label. They will also upload the scanned files so you can access immediately after they process while you wait for the negatives, prints and/or CD to come in the mail . It might be an easier transition for a digital shooter: http://thedarkroom.com/
