Advertisement Posted November 13, 2012 Posted November 13, 2012 Hi due163, Take a look here Summaron on M8 , what IR/UV filter options?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
earleygallery Posted November 13, 2012 Share #2 Â Posted November 13, 2012 If you can't find one of those you could buy any A36 filter, any IR/UV filter, remove the filter from the ring and cut it down to fit into the A36 filter mount.
due163 Posted November 13, 2012 Author Share #3  Posted November 13, 2012 Hi James, thats what Im looking at actually, you can get ruined a36 filters for cheap as the glass is sometimes ruined  cheers  Robert
tobey bilek Posted November 13, 2012 Share #4 Â Posted November 13, 2012 If you can't find one of those you could buy any A36 filter, any IR/UV filter, remove the filter from the ring and cut it down to fit into the A36 filter mount. Â Please suggest how one would cut down a glass filter. My 60 mm Leica is plastic, but have no Leics in smaller size. My B+W appear to be glass, but not sure. jaapv Posted November 13, 2012 Share #5 Â Posted November 13, 2012 Funny; my Summaron 3.5 cm 3.5 is a normal E 39 filter thread. Ah - I see, two versions.
UliWer Posted November 13, 2012 Share #6 Â Posted November 13, 2012 Besides earlygallery's cutting-down option and the obvious SOOGZ-solution I see only two chances: Â 1. swap your A36-version of the Summaron to the newer version with E 39. 2. the black part of the lenses front should have a filter-mount with small diameter. If you measure it, you could ask at Foto Huppert http://www.foto-huppert.de/default2.asp if B+W makes an UV/IR-Filter with this size on demand for you. They have done this before, though I am not sure if they would do so now with IR-Cut-Filters.
jaapv Posted November 14, 2012 Share #7 Â Posted November 14, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) B+W do supply a 35.5 mm filter which might just fit, if needed with some Teflon tape.
due163 Posted November 14, 2012 Author Share #8 Â Posted November 14, 2012 Hmm this is harder than expected, Ill keep taking Black and White then, haha!
luigi bertolotti Posted November 14, 2012 Share #9  Posted November 14, 2012 Hmm this is harder than expected, Ill keep taking Black and White then, haha!  Hard but not costly... MW has a SOOGZ for 10£.... MW Classic Cameras , and one who uses a Summaron 3,5 cannot use not an Elmar...
