Hi all

I bought a great condition Summaron 35/3,5 and its awesome, and it takes fantastic B+W ., but Id liek to use a filter to take colour shots too

What options do I have for a A36 IR/UV filter?

just the Leica SOOGZ?

If you can't find one of those you could buy any A36 filter, any IR/UV filter, remove the filter from the ring and cut it down to fit into the A36 filter mount.

Please suggest how one would cut down a glass filter. My 60 mm Leica is plastic, but have no Leics in smaller size. My B+W appear to be glass, but not sure.

Besides earlygallery's cutting-down option and the obvious SOOGZ-solution I see only two chances:

1. swap your A36-version of the Summaron to the newer version with E 39.

2. the black part of the lenses front should have a filter-mount with small diameter. If you measure it, you could ask at Foto Huppert http://www.foto-huppert.de/default2.asp

if B+W makes an UV/IR-Filter with this size on demand for you. They have done this before, though I am not sure if they would do so now with IR-Cut-Filters.

Hi all

I ended up buying a vintage A36> summitar ring and then a new Summitar>E39 ring

total cost was under 40 bucks including shipping for both , Im eagerly awaiting the last ring to try it out

Happy New Year
