Advertisement Posted October 30, 2012 Posted October 30, 2012 Hi JHAG, Take a look here C1 # 7. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Luke_Miller Posted October 30, 2012 Share #2 Posted October 30, 2012 I did, and after a day or so purchased the license. Well worth it IMO.
nggalai Posted October 30, 2012 Share #3 Posted October 30, 2012 I did, too. It’s still sort-of buggy, but the results are well worth the coin. Also, PhaseOne apparently geared up on Support Ninjas; they even sent out replies to my requests Sunday 10pm. Quality-wise, most important changes / improvements are much, much better high-ISO capabilities plus CO’s shadow recovery. If you stuck with CaptureOne 5-6 in the past and didn’t like Lightroom 4, it’s like your M8/M9 received an anti-noise, pro-dynamics make-over. Jury’s still out on whether LR-4 or CO-7 are “better” in this respect, it comes down to taste, apparently. Many users have stability issues right now; it seems to help to completely uninstall previous CaptureOne versions prior to installing CO-7 (and I mean completely, including ~/Library or registry cleanups) and/or updating VGA drivers, in some cases experimenting with Beta drivers by AMD or NVIDIA respectively. Then, there’s the new Catalog feature which some love and some hate. But I’m glad PhaseOne didn’t ditch its Sessions/Folders approach and I can still work the way I’m used to. sblitz Posted October 31, 2012 Share #4 Posted October 31, 2012 Thanks just upgraded seems stable but haven't really started to play with it.
Paul J Posted November 8, 2012 Share #5 Posted November 8, 2012 I've been using it and am astounded by the results. I've been using Lightroom for quote a while now having being a big C1 use for many years. Looks like I'm jumping ship again, back to Capture One. TIF's from M9 DNG's are really very good form default conversions, compared to lightroom where the colour is not as good and it is also bags sharper in C1 v7. k-hawinkler Posted November 8, 2012 Share #8 Posted November 8, 2012 C1P6 works fine on my Mac. However, with C1P7 so far I have not managed to transfer a finished image to PS CS6. I must be doing something wrong.
Paul J Posted November 8, 2012 Share #9 Posted November 8, 2012 Thanks, I do have v6 installed. Does it create a conflict? C1 has always had notoriously buggy releases.

nggalai Posted November 9, 2012 Share #12 Posted November 9, 2012 In any case, should anybody be interested in the Upgrade to CO-7, use the demo first, extensively. It’s a 60 days trial period after all. If you believed the official user-to-user forums (Phase One and Leaf - Mamiya Official User to User Forum • Index page), CaptureOne 7 is one crash-prone application. But as we all know, mostly people with issues post in software support forums, those with no crashes and encountered bugs might not even be aware there are forums to post to. So it’s difficult to guess how high the chances are it works properly on your systems, or if it works at all. Hence: Use the demo, and keep backups of your CO-6 files. In my case, I got the crashes solved via PhaseOne support and have been working extensively with CO-7 for a tad over a week now with no problems apart from the printing bug. (Borderless printing, at least on OSX, leads to no prints at all.) But – your mileage may vary. Looking forward to 7.1 anyhow. Can’t be long. Luke_Miller Posted November 9, 2012 Share #14 Posted November 9, 2012 Thanks, I do have v6 installed. Does it create a conflict? I have both V6 and V7 installed without issue (Windows 7 64bit). Both work properly excepting some minor bugs in V7. My understanding is that conflicts can arise if both are open simultaneously.
erl Posted November 10, 2012 Share #15 Posted November 10, 2012 Currently, I have both 6 and 7 installed. Both work fine even when open together. I am using a Pc with 64 bit system. I will shortly dump 6 now that I have worked out how to control my workflow in 7. 7 does deliver better images for me so is worth the upgrade. Steve Ash Posted November 10, 2012 Share #16 Posted November 10, 2012 Mine is crashing like hell on Macbook and iMac. It is impossible to import Media Pro catalogs into C7. Steve Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
otto.f Posted November 10, 2012 Share #17 Posted November 10, 2012 Seems that it's not optimized for the Mac yet?
Carl E Posted November 11, 2012 Share #18 Posted November 11, 2012 I am running 6 and 7 side by side but I am having problems getting the results I want from M8 DNGs in version 7. When I open the images in 7, they display as milky, greyish images in but in 6 they are OK. What am I doing wrong here?
nggalai Posted November 11, 2012 Share #19 Posted November 11, 2012 Seems that it's not optimized for the Mac yet? Apparently, if you can trust the (ATM not-available) support forums, CO-7 runs better on most Macs than on PCs right now, mostly due to driver incompatibilities. The one thing where it really isn’t optimised yet: No OpenCL support for OSX 10.8 (Mountain Lion). It’s scheduled to come “very soon”, but not there yet. I am running 6 and 7 side by side but I am having problems getting the results I want from M8 DNGs in version 7. When I open the images in 7, they display as milky, greyish images in but in 6 they are OK. What am I doing wrong here? Might be CO-6 applies a contrast curve to your M8 files on import, while CO-7 remains linear/flat. You can check in the Exposure tab, “Curve” tool. Files already developed in CO-6 should look the same on first open with CaptureOne 7 (as with such files, CO uses the same render engine and settings sidecars by default).
