This is near the Campo Formosa, which is like the whole city – just beautiful. The place gets into your bones, if you let it. And so you should. I have been thinking about you and Barbara (and other east coast American members) in the last few days - you have evidently survived the weather disasters, I hope with minimum damage. All the news feeds looked horrific - apparently 3 feet of water on the floor of the Exchange, subway lines filled to to ceiling. Now the long cleanup. This is the view from the window. We had a corner room that looked out in two directions. The corner of the building is at the right hand side of your pic. The photo below looks in the same direction along the canal as yours. Your hotel evidently was directly across the canal from the apartment we rented in the Palazetto San Lio. Our view was exactly the same but from 20 feet to the right on the other side of the canal. The green shutter just in front of the man with the umbrella in your picture is a quite pleasant restaurant that we ate in – twice. Incredibly, the piece de résistance on their menu was Scottish Salmon. Your picture shows the table we sat at enjoying the best value meal of our trip. The service was outstanding-very attentive hosts. Aperitifs on entering, 3 course delicious meal, Prosecco and coffee. It cost less than 70 euros for 2 of us. Unfortunately, I put the same film through twice !! But tracey's digital came through.
