I'm looking to purchase a used M8 however it has a small yellowish spot on the lcd screen in the centre (doesn't affect pictures however). Anyone have any idea what could have caused this and whether there is a relatively easy fix/or possible price for replacement screen/panel (I'm guessing possibly not cheap!)

Cheers

you could always offer him a LOW price on it and buy it......the yellow-ish stain shouldn't affect the function of the screen, it will only just look annoying.....or you could just find another camera without that problem! :)

Sounds like the 'coffee stain' issue (do a search).

Replacement screens are not available so if/when that screen fails your M8 is pretty much useless. Leica will give you a discount on a new camera as they can't repair it.

If you want an M8 look for one with a perfect screen.

It's a cosmetic issue. It doesn't mean the screen is more likely to fail than any another M8. If you can put up with it and negotiate a substantial discount from the seller, it might be worth consideration. As said, Leica aren't able to replace the screen, but will most likely offer you a good price on an M9 or similar in lieu of a repair.
