Paulus Posted October 7, 2012 Share #21 Posted October 7, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) I have been shooting film the whole weekend. Partly because of my M9 which had a nasty stripe in the sensor, but partly because, when all the fuss was Photokina and M and M Monochrom I just wanted to go back to my basis and shoot and print the " real " black and white. Just one film , one camera and one 28mm elmarit. My MP is getting so smooth. I hardly notice that a used the lever. It has been a wonderful weekend, with hopefully some great pictures. I'm developing the films ( flushing ) as we speak/write.

K Davis Posted October 8, 2012 Share #23 Posted October 8, 2012 10 slide films just returned from processing lab, projected 'em and thought once more that Digital cannot compete with the projected image
gidion27 Posted October 8, 2012 Share #24 Posted October 8, 2012 I actually moved back to film. Sold my Digital cameras and only kept a Pan. LX5 as a piont and Shoot. All remaining fund went in to a m6 and R8 + Some nice lenses. I absolutly love shooting film and as such have not looked back.
Jerren Posted October 8, 2012 Share #25 Posted October 8, 2012 Since the leica product announcements on monday evening, this film sub-forum has nearly ground to a halt! I can only think that people have been seduced by the new M, which doesn't bode well for film....... I just bought an M2, I didn't drink the juice. Bateleur Posted October 9, 2012 Share #27 Posted October 9, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) Film is very much alive in this corner - although modest in terms of throughput - and quite likely as far a prints too, being recording visitors to a photo exhibition two weekends ago and last weekend to photograph a re-enactment event. And as if this is not enough the silvermax is in the mail. Regards Charles
andyedward Posted October 9, 2012 Author Share #28 Posted October 9, 2012 I'll admit that I was tempted by all the bells and whistles of the new M when it was announced, but I simply reminded myself that it is just a digital camera, and I no longer like the digital look. If Leica could make a good profit from their film cameras I can guarantee they would be marketed as the next big thing
CalArts 99 Posted October 9, 2012 Share #29 Posted October 9, 2012 I'll admit that I was tempted by all the bells and whistles of the new M when it was announced, but I simply reminded myself that it is just a digital camera, and I no longer like the digital look. If Leica could make a good profit from their film cameras I can guarantee they would be marketed as the next big thing I'm guessing that Leica does make a pretty hefty profit from the MP and M7 since all the parts and tooling has been paid for many times over. I've also been using film more often these days. I work primarily in color and I just can't quite get the same color palette from digital no matter how much effort in post. I need to add to my current stock, it's getting a bit low. Welcome, dear visitor! pico Posted October 9, 2012 Share #30 Posted October 9, 2012 Calarts - I could one-up you with a picture of a stack of 4x5 Kodak HSIE boxes, but it would only be more embarrassing. It expired in the deep-freeze. Fogged beyond reason. That is how very sensitive it was. Bummer. The last honest IR ever made. .
too old to care Posted October 11, 2012 Share #31 Posted October 11, 2012 I guess I am a little different. I have almost put my M6 in retirement, but not because of digital. After picking up a 30 year old Hasselblad last year, it has become my main camera. I took it to vacation in New Mexico, along with my Pan LX3, and shot several rolls of film. The LX3 was only used for snaps of friends.
kivis Posted October 11, 2012 Share #32 Posted October 11, 2012 Leaving on a trip to NYC. A&A bag with an M3, 'cron, Super Angulon and film. Loaded for bear!!
SteveYork Posted October 11, 2012 Share #33 Posted October 11, 2012 I've just bought a table top freezer exclusively for .... guess what? There was more film than food in the kitchen one . Bob. I too will buy a freezer by the end of the year. The 'Women Who Must Be Obeyed' tells me she needs more space for food. I wish she would get her priorities straight. sblitz Posted October 15, 2012 Share #34 Posted October 15, 2012 Avika -- Not sure if this is your first time in NYC or not, but head over to Adorama or B&H and you will find lots of film to choose from. And if you want top notch development/scan (assuming you are here long enough) head over to Duggal on 23rd St. If you are a film user, NYC is a town where life hasn't changed all that much (even local tourist shops will sell some limited amount of Kodak film). 1joel1 Posted October 15, 2012 Share #35 Posted October 15, 2012 I went to a local camera store, mall shop, and asked where the film department was. They smiled and siad that they didn'thave any film. How sad, I replied. This was a Ritz Camera that are in the malls here. I'm sure the actual camera shops still have film, thought here is only one shop that I can think of. Also, there are a few good labs here in San Diego and was glad to find out about that.
