roydonian Posted September 22, 2012 Share #23 Â Posted September 22, 2012 I've never had a comment about VF blockage but often get the surprising comment as someone is about to take a picture that "Wow everything is in focus, amazing". Â The reaction I got from one young lady during a camera club outing was: Â "But the lens stops me seeing part of what I'm trying to photograph. That's totally useless!" Â Best regards, Â Doug
Chuck Albertson Posted September 23, 2012 Author Share #24 Â Posted September 23, 2012 It would be interesting to know which of the rich and fabulous who wear Leica M cameras are actually committed image makers and which are shallow posers. Â A lot of actors I know have a very developed visual sense, so it's no surprise they are pretty decent photographers. Emmy Rossum (whose picture was deleted for having the Wrong Camera in it) is the daughter of Cheryl Rossum, a crack art/commercial/corporate photographer--I think she probably picked up a few pointers over the years). hillavoider Posted September 27, 2012 Share #25 Â Posted September 27, 2012 Most of these actors are getting either paid to 'wear' the camera or been given it for free as long as they 'wear' it. doubt many use it. Blackstone would have Leica's marketing dept running overtime on this crap.

Angora Posted September 28, 2012 Share #28 Â Posted September 28, 2012 Quote source and context. Â Can't say about Leica, but this practice is well known. I wouldn't be surprised if the company sent some Panaleica to poseurs and M to decent photographers.
kokoshawnuff Posted September 28, 2012 Share #29 Â Posted September 28, 2012 I don't think Leica gives any lenses or cameras away except to employees or HOF honorees. Maybe someone like Seal occasionally, but definitely not Hollywood 20 something's.

mwilliamsphotography Posted September 28, 2012 Share #31 Â Posted September 28, 2012 This is an incredibly odd thread. Â Questioning the picture taking ability of a group of people can be a dangerous game. Â People engaged in a visually creative career may have some well developed sense of style and contact with some of the greatest image makers of our time ... or they simply may not have the eye for it. Depends on the person. However, why as a group would they be less likely to make a decent photograph than say an engineer or dentist? Â -Marc
stuny Posted September 28, 2012 Share #32 Â Posted September 28, 2012 I think it was Jeff Daniels who had a beautiful exhibition of D2 photos at the Leica Gallery in Manhattan a few years ago.
