Robinyuill Posted September 12, 2012 Share #1 Posted September 12, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi there. I'm looking for info on the site about film processing and scanning. Is there a thread specific to this? The local company in Edinburgh is getting poorer with every film I put in so I think I will need to post them off somewhere. Thanks for the info. Regards Robin. Advertisement Posted September 12, 2012 Posted September 12, 2012 Hi Robinyuill, Take a look here Film Processing in U.K. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
bill Posted September 12, 2012 Share #2 Posted September 12, 2012 Well, Snappy Snaps is good if you find a good one, otherwise Dale Photographic via mail-order. Regards, Bill Sent from another Galaxy
earleygallery Posted September 12, 2012 Share #3 Posted September 12, 2012 Are you looking for information on recommended labs, or a DIY guide to processing? There are lots of threads covering both topics here (if you use the search function).
250swb Posted September 12, 2012 Share #4 Posted September 12, 2012 Try Peak Imaging who run a very efficient and good quality mail order service. But if you want to process your own B&W I think that is a great idea and you should trawl the threads on LUF and have a look at the Ilford .pdf on how to do it and what you need http://www.ilfordphoto.com/Webfiles/200629163442455.pdf Steve
Phil U Posted September 12, 2012 Share #5 Posted September 12, 2012 Well, Snappy Snaps is good if you find a good one, otherwise Dale Photographic via mail-order. Regards, Bill Sent from another Galaxy Dale Photographic in Leeds? They don't do processing as far as I am aware. Or perhaps you mean another? I would recommend Peak Imaging in Sheffield transfer to peak-imaging.com
andybarton Posted September 12, 2012 Share #6 Posted September 12, 2012 Dale don't do processing, or if they do, they send it to someone else. Peak seem to be the nation's favourite. I often send my slides there.

Is there a thread specific to this? The local company in Edinburgh is getting poorer with every film I put in so I think I will need to post them off somewhere. Thanks for the info. Regards Robin. There's a whole heap of info on scanning. What scanner are you considering? As for UK developing, AG Photographic has a C41 developing service. Since I don't live in the UK I haven't used it but I thought I should mention it because it wasn't mentioned by the other posters.
normclarke Posted September 12, 2012 Share #8 Posted September 12, 2012 I for the past ten years have used Club 35 in W2 3ET and have never been put off useing their services which include most of the digital processes. The pricing is very competitive the films are sleeved and the reprints are stellar. Best, normclarke.
Phil U Posted September 12, 2012 Share #9 Posted September 12, 2012 These guys are great on price and quality but not as rapid as peak imaging. They also have a great set of options for scanning resolution and format. The 18mb PER FRAME TIFF C-D option is superb. I highly recommend them. http://www.snapsphotoservices.com - Process & Scan p.s. prices quoted are for develop and scan per roll, not per frame (if that wasn't obvious)

250swb Posted September 12, 2012 Share #12 Posted September 12, 2012 Sorry, brainstorm. I was sitting in a coffee bar in Drury Lane when I typed that. I meant Peak. Dale, Peak, it's all oop North to me I understand that Peak automatically apply a 'warm glow filter' to all southern customers films, just so it looks the same as you remembered it. I think in the lab they call it the southern mug, or s'mug, filter for short Steve

WillD Posted September 14, 2012 Share #17 Posted September 14, 2012 I've tried a lot of labs over the past 12 months or so and had varying levels of quality. The best I have used to date is Spectrum Photo Labs down in Plymouth. Processing seems as good if not better than the competition, but their scans are the best I have come across to date.
