This thread is just killing me. I gotta start selling stuff I no longer use. As long as I tell the wife I am selling something, I can buy something. Does anyone need a boat???

Hahaha, that's so funny... :) :)

Answer to your questions:

- How he organised getting a silver, and

* I just asked Leica if I could get a chrome one, easy as that, as i said early in the post...

- What the price was.

* Not much, as I also answered early in this thread, and because i use my own contacts in Leica Solms to

get this done, i will not announce exactly what i paid for it... just ask and you will get a quote from them, it's

as easy as that...

- If these are so secretive, why post?

* Why not, do we need to announce every detail about a thing to get a permit for showing them here?

I really do not understand the point behind this comment, please explain?

Alex

Please don't misunderstand. I was just explaining why some people were curious. If you didn't want to answer those questions just say so, but you never even answered so of course the credibility of the camera will be questioned, thats all. Very happy for you. looks great in chrome! Cheers

Been there and done that! I rather miss the 26' sloop that started me in Leicas.

Brilliant. Thanks for the heads up. I much prefer the silver chrome, particularly for such a timeless classic.

Thanks for sharing, Alex.

I am liking the noise(?) on those high iso shots.

I wonder if one can say that it's a unique Monochrom signature.

Regardless, very nice. I hope they're not limiting the run on the Monochrom. I don't mind getting this over the M10 next year assuming that the latter is "just" offering live view and some extra pixels.

Leica sure knows how to tickle our fancy.

Cost is approx base +10% ... at least thats what they quoted me.....

The advantage is that as a special you will get it in 6-8 weeks or so instead of being on a 'waiting list' of indeterminate length.....

Would be a real bummer if as a result of the interest they produced a silver chrome version at the same cost though.... :o

I really fancy matching M9P and Monochrom in identical Luigi half cases.....

That way Ms Thighslapper will never know I have a new camera ....:D:p

.... last time I was found out when I got a silver M9P to add to my black M9 ....... and was in the dog-house for a while......:(

I can feel a persistent itch starting......

I have a MM on order but would much prefer a Silver Chrome one. What dealer did you get the quote from?

Thanks

Lee

As Alexander said ..... email Solms ...... I just asked Customer Service to forward my email to the right department.......

They contacted the main distributor in the the UK (Leica Mayfair) and they emailed a quote in my local currency..... presumably they would do the same to your countries main supplier... same as for any 'a la carte Leica' offerings.

Took maybe 4 hrs in total.

The premium for a silver chrome top and bottom seems a bit steep to me ..... I'm sure it's just scavenged off the M9P production line... but that's Leica for you :p.

The only painful bit of the process will be parting with the cash ;)

Many thanks. It does seem a little steep, but I worked in auto manufacturing in Germany during college and when a car needed something special, like bullet proof windows, everyone had to be on the same page in every part of assembly so that one request would not halt production somewhere. Somehow it always did.

Thanks again
