28mm Elmarit ver3 lenshood 12536 question

Hi,

Does anyone know if there is a lenshood that will fit the Mk 3 28 Elmarit (E49) with the bayonet fitting, apart from the original 12536 hood?

I was wondering if an R hood or a later M hood might do it. I can't find a spare 12536 anywhere.

Thanks, John

John,

a few months ago I was in contact with Meister Camera in Hamburg. They had a 12536 in new condition but I don´t remember the price. I don´t picked it up because it was too high for me (about 200 EUR?). In my opinion there is no R-hood fitting.

Regards,

Chris

It is still there, but way too expensive...

I have a 49 - 52 adapter, and may try a generic hood for a while. (52 hoods are easier to find than 49mm ones!)

Thanks, the box is correct, but the hood is for the Mk4, it has a cut out for the viewfinder. I'm not sure it will fit the mk3.

A correct type has just popped up on eBay, I've put in an offer.

Thanks,

John

No no it's a v3 (# 11804). Look at the "tiger claw" focus tab. Typical from the early eighties.

lct, is that a bayonet hood, or clip on?

Your lens looks like a Mk4

It´s a MK 3 as my one. In the fotograph of Sherry Krauter you can also see the bayonet. And there is another different: This here is one with tab. My Elmarit hasn´t a tab e.g.

How do you focus if yours has no focus tab?

Oh, I´m sorry, my Elmarit has a tab but it looks different. No better picture at the moment:

Here's a late 11804 from 1991:

I have one of these "tiger claw" hoods for my 28mm Elmarit III. But the little bendy metal bits are either no longer there (or were never included?). So the hood sits a bit loose.

Any tips to get the hood to grip tighter?

"Tiger claw" is a name given in Asia to the convex focus tabs of the 28/2.8 and other Mandler lenses like early 35/2 v4 and 50/2 v4. The metal bit is a mere spring that Leica has perhaps in stock i don't know.
