jpattison Posted July 25, 2012 Share #1 Posted July 25, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi, Does anyone know if there is a lenshood that will fit the Mk 3 28 Elmarit (E49) with the bayonet fitting, apart from the original 12536 hood? I was wondering if an R hood or a later M hood might do it. I can't find a spare 12536 anywhere. Thanks, John
Advertisement Posted July 25, 2012 Posted July 25, 2012 Hi jpattison, Take a look here 28mm Elmarit ver3 lenshood 12536 question. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Moggele Posted July 25, 2012 Share #2 Posted July 25, 2012 I can't find a spare 12536 anywhere. John, a few months ago I was in contact with Meister Camera in Hamburg. They had a 12536 in new condition but I don´t remember the price. I don´t picked it up because it was too high for me (about 200 EUR?). In my opinion there is no R-hood fitting. jpattison Posted July 26, 2012 Author Share #3 Posted July 26, 2012 Thanks, Chris It is still there, but way too expensive... I have a 49 - 52 adapter, and may try a generic hood for a while. (52 hoods are easier to find than 49mm ones!) John
lct Posted July 26, 2012 Share #4 Posted July 26, 2012 Cheap 49mm hoods can be found on e**y if you have nothing against screw-in hoods. Not sure if they are wide enough though. Keger 49mm hood

jpattison Posted July 30, 2012 Author Share #6 Posted July 30, 2012 Thanks, the box is correct, but the hood is for the Mk4, it has a cut out for the viewfinder. I'm not sure it will fit the mk3. A correct type has just popped up on eBay, I've put in an offer. Thanks, John
Moggele Posted July 30, 2012 Share #7 Posted July 30, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) I'm quite sure there were hoods with cut out and without. The hood should fit. But why don't ask?
lct Posted July 30, 2012 Share #8 Posted July 30, 2012 I'm quite sure there were hoods with cut out... So am I: Welcome, dear visitor! jpattison Posted July 31, 2012 Author Share #9 Posted July 31, 2012 lct, is that a bayonet hood, or clip on? lct Posted July 31, 2012 Share #10 Posted July 31, 2012 No no it's a v3 (# 11804). Look at the "tiger claw" focus tab. Typical from the early eighties. Welcome, dear visitor! Moggele Posted July 31, 2012 Share #11 Posted July 31, 2012 lct, is that a bayonet hood, or clip on?Your lens looks like a Mk4 It´s a MK 3 as my one. In the fotograph of Sherry Krauter you can also see the bayonet. And there is another different: This here is one with tab. My Elmarit hasn´t a tab e.g.

colorflow Posted July 31, 2012 Share #16 Posted July 31, 2012 LCT, is your hood with the cutout also 12536? I just bought a "1913-1983" version with no cutout.
lct Posted July 31, 2012 Share #17 Posted July 31, 2012 I have no experience with either but my understanding is that the early 12536 had no cut out and the late ones had one. See Elmarit 28mm 3rd version lens hood
russell Posted August 1, 2012 Share #18 Posted August 1, 2012 I have one of these "tiger claw" hoods for my 28mm Elmarit III. But the little bendy metal bits are either no longer there (or were never included?). So the hood sits a bit loose. Any tips to get the hood to grip tighter? "Tiger claw" is a name given in Asia to the convex focus tabs of the 28/2.8 and other Mandler lenses like early 35/2 v4 and 50/2 v4. The metal bit is a mere spring that Leica has perhaps in stock i don't know.
