John M. Posted July 4, 2012 Share #1 Posted July 4, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) A few years ago I purchased a D2 and it did everything I wanted it to do and more, however I somehow felt I needed a more advanced camera and sold it. BIG MISTAKE. Sold the $1200.00 one at a big loss and found a mint condition D2 and come hell or high water, I'm not letting it go. I now have a problem I need some help on. For some reason I have not been able to shoot good Macro shots. There is something I'm doing wrong. Help. Thanking you in advance. Thanks. Advertisement Posted July 4, 2012 Posted July 4, 2012 Hi John M., Take a look here Digilux 2 and Macro. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
k_g_wolf ✝ Posted July 4, 2012 Share #2 Posted July 4, 2012 In case the MACRO-setting (on the side of the lens) is not enough for your ambitions try to get a matching Close-Up-lens. LEICA had an ELPRO-lens for the D2, but this is a hard to find gadget these days and still rather expensive. It´s much easier to get hold of the PANASONIC- Close-Up lens for their LUMIX-LC1. Search e-pay from time to time. Best GEORG

jaapv Posted July 4, 2012 Share #4 Posted July 4, 2012 The Canon D500 macro diopter with a 77 mm step-up ring is every bit as good as the Elpro.
stuny Posted July 5, 2012 Share #5 Posted July 5, 2012 Also consider this: The D2's autofocus is quite good, but not nearly as reliable in macro as in normal photos. Most of the time when I shoot "macro" without an add-on lens I find I need to focus manually.
mija1789 Posted July 5, 2012 Share #6 Posted July 5, 2012 When shooting macro with my Nikon D200 and a Kiron 105/2.5 1/1 macro lens, I first roughly focus with the focus ring but then fine tune by slightly moving forward or backward. It is a much easier than trying to remain steady while adjusting the focus ring, at least with a D200. I have found the same works well with the D2. Enjoy it

wda Posted July 6, 2012 Share #8 Posted July 6, 2012 John, for photography at the closest possible distances I add the ELPRO-D. Failing that, and there are times when I don't have it with me, I zoom in setting 90mm, switch to MANUAL focus and set it at the closest setting. You often have to move the camera to and fro, changing the camera-to-subject distance to get the right balance. Having set in the MENU 'Focus Assist', as soon as you turn the focusing ring, a magnified portion shows you when you are in focus. Some users find this fiddly and imprecise. Just persevere. I have used the camera in this way in the past to photograph fine details of craft workmanship and have obtained very worthwhile results which have been published. Practice is the secret! farnz Posted July 7, 2012 Share #9 Posted July 7, 2012 Here's a different method of taking close-up macro shots with the D2 without an Elpro-D but using Burst Mode that was posted in 2006 by Chouhsin. Please refer to post number 10 in this thread. Pete.
