Most probably M10 (or whatever) at least. It seems that part of the reason for the entire hall is Leica taking over the photo exhibition duties, after the legacy provider withdrew.

There will be two new cameras: M10 and the other one. There will be new lenses. There will be new accessories.

M9M is not really a new camera (IMO)- it is a clever modification of an existing one. Leica have obviously been playing around with prototypes of new M cameras since the Titanium- and my prediction is that the M10 will be housed in a Hermes type body... and already exists...

Leica can't wait until 2014... They have tripled lens production, a new factory and a new investor. They made record proffits and have expansive dreams. The M9 has been squeezed dry... Other manufacturers are moving into their territory... Time for new cameras- and higher prices...

The CL was introduced because the M5 had failed on the vine. The CL tided the company over till they could decide what to do with the M series. Today, OTOH, the M camera is selling well and the question becomes how to introduce a less expensive camera that doesn't compete with the M system but has some compatibility with it.

Check your history. The CL stole sales from the M5.

There are several reasons why the M5 didn't sell well, despite its' innovative design.

One is that it was never marketed alone. In '71 and '72 Leica sold the M5, but still offered the much less expensive M4 (approx. 1/2 the price of the M5). Starting in '73 they sold the M5 along with the CL.

Although I don't believe the M5 would have sold like earlier Ms, if for no other reason because of the shift to SLRs, Leica didn't help itself by offering too many rangefinders.

And Leica won't make the same mistake today. That's why we'll never see a less expensive digital rangefinder. Maybe some other camera, but not a rangefinder.

The only significant functional difference between the M4 and M5 was the integrated light meter. The M5 was ugly and more expensive. It is not a surprise the failure of the M5.

We are talking here about two very different cameras: a classical rangefinder and an EVF camera, MF lenses versus AF/MF lenses, and so on.

Let's do a recap on the AP interview, it's quite obvious IMO regarding what will happen. Please allow me to quote some of the key takeaways ... the URL below will link you back to the original:

Leica blows hot and cold in Berlin | Photography news - Camera news, photo news and photography events | Amateur Photographer

The £1,350 'Blad adapter for the S-system would have been cheaper if Hasselblad had co-operated on its development, admitted a Leica source. Firm considering adapters for other professional systems
We'll probably see a Mamiya lens adapter for the S2. No new S lenses for the time being?

Leica bosses tight-lipped on a CSC for Photokina but 'M family' is very high on the agenda. Leica chiefs see APS-C as industry standard on any future CSC. But AP got a strong feeling that any CSC from Leica will not appear by September. Leica chairman Dr Andreas Kaufmann refused to comment when asked if bosses have gone cold on the idea, stressing Leica already has a compact system.
There'll be no CSC this year and Leica management seemed to have cooled down with the idea. There might be a new M but with a handicapped frame sensor given Stefan Daniel's mentioning about its projected pricing ... a digital CL?

Leica commits to S-system but won't say when next one coming. Company invests more in S than M systems. Its lips are sealed on the contents of the company's '5-7 year roadmap'. Leica aims to be the market leader in digital medium format. Says whole global market is over 6,000 units per year
There could be a S3 or perhaps S2.2 more likely? but they aren't sure exactly what they are going to do at this moment of time.

Leica considered a 'sliding-door' as a cover for the LCD on the Mono M, to make the camera look more traditional
That would be awesome - put the ISO dial back on it!

Leica considering video but points to drawbacks such as overheating and battery life
No video on whatever is coming next ... who cares ... really.

They have introduced the shuttered lenses in Berlin

Very doubbtful imo - but a CSC maybe next year, not now

Little secret - Leica knows exactly - watch the Photokina.

Yup. Wait and see, I think video might come:o Sliding door? hmmmm...

i still stand by my predictions (for the time being)...

Surely the brick like shape of the M5 played a role in it's failure? What a hopeless camera: imagine buying it at twice the price of a sleek M4? You'd have to be mad... it's not like you couldn't get a small hand held light meter in those days...

I've never found the M5 ugly. A rather clean design rather....:o

As born out by the fact they now sell for silly money, otherwise I'd have one tomorrow.

Just out of curiosity: has any M ever been marketed alone? From my limited knowledge, Leica marketing has always taken a strategy of product overlaps, and might still do (despite the recent suggestion of the 'end of film').

Thanks.

I'll sell you one tomorrow happily: no silly price... it's a beater- slow shutter speeds hang- there is separation in the finder (they are prone to that)- but all perfectly usable and ready to go- meter works just fine... (though you'd probably do better with a CV clip on meter...)

I wonder have you handled one? Not nice compared to an m2,3,4,6,7,8 or 9- even an M1... the camera is a classic design failure if you ask me.

It didn't just fail because of the CL- it failed against the SLR's from Japan- it failed aesthetically. It failed miserably.

Strikes me that similar thing could happen to Leica again today if they were not careful...

They have introduced the shuttered lenses in Berlin

The CS lenses were actually introduced 4 years ago back in 2008 ... I don't think they are readily avaialable yet even after the re-introduction.

Little secret - Leica knows exactly - watch the Photokina.

I hope it's not just a S-Monochrom ... I wish I were wrong with this one. A downsized S camera with R compatibility is my wish.
