Åmund Posted June 9, 2012 Share #1 Posted June 9, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) Does anyone use a wrist strap for the M9? Is it advisable, and if so, where can I get one? I get a neck-ache after a long day with it dangling in a strap around my neck. Regards Åmund

Ellie Posted June 9, 2012 Share #4 Posted June 9, 2012 I cut up one of my Leica shoulder straps and made two wrist straps (for my M9 and M7) A friend cobbler did the stitches. They work very well in the warmer season when not using gloves, and they feels safe too. Welcome, dear visitor! bill Posted June 9, 2012 Share #5 Posted June 9, 2012 Gordys. They are stiff to start with so put them in your pocket with your keys and cash for a week or two - they are ready to use after that. Regards, Bill
andybarton Posted June 9, 2012 Share #6 Posted June 9, 2012 I never could get my Gordy strap soft, so in the bin it went. I use a Leica one. Beautiful soft leather right from the word go.
Åmund Posted June 9, 2012 Author Share #7 Posted June 9, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) I never could get my Gordy strap soft, so in the bin it went. I use a Leica one. Beautiful soft leather right from the word go. I could not find the Leica wrist strap under accessories on the Leica web-site and I probably would feel safer with a strap directly from Leica. Do you have a order number?

Indina Posted June 9, 2012 Share #11 Posted June 9, 2012 I also ordered Gordy's and find it too stiff to feel comfortable with it yet. It's a beauty, but I hope, it will smoothe a bit. Cin Cin
StephenPatterson Posted June 9, 2012 Share #12 Posted June 9, 2012 My Gordy's strap took about six months to soften up, but it's my favorite. I also have an A&A on my M2, and while it's nice (softer leather right out of the package) and maybe a little more stylish I just prefer the Gordy's. Paul Verrips Posted June 9, 2012 Share #14 Posted June 9, 2012 Try this: how to make your own Leica wrist strap I use this DIY wrist strap and have a Gordy. I prefer the DIY because it's softer.
andybarton Posted June 9, 2012 Share #15 Posted June 9, 2012 I have two alternative ones, both with Leica stamped on them, but probably not real "Leica" One cost £25 from my dealer, the other came with my X1, but he probably threw that into the box because he knows I am such a nice chap. I'll take some photos of them if anyone's interested.
IWC Doppel Posted June 9, 2012 Share #16 Posted June 9, 2012 I find the finger grip coupled with a thumbs up perfect for carrying ready to shoot. I'll post a few pictures when I'm back from Venice
Indina Posted June 9, 2012 Share #17 Posted June 9, 2012 Has anybody tried saddle soap on the Gordy? Not available in the house. But I'll try good leather oil....
tappan Posted June 9, 2012 Share #18 Posted June 9, 2012 Luigi makes a wonderful wrist strap with fabulous leather as per his usual. Yes! I am very happy with my Luigi wrist strap (black leather) I never thought I would be a wrist strap user but for me I think the wrist strap continues the feeling that the M9 is an extension of you. Best, Mark
40mm f/2 Posted June 9, 2012 Share #19 Posted June 9, 2012 Leica made a wrist strap together with a leather belt bag for the 50mm f2.8 Elmar. I am still using the strap (the bag was really nice with a small lens but mine needs a new zipper). For my M9 I made one like it without the leather piece out of a spare neck strap. I find a wrist strap much easier to use and consider a camera dangling around my neck not very safe for me and the camera. Welcome, dear visitor! farnz Posted June 10, 2012 Share #20 Posted June 10, 2012 I used to use Artisan and Artist wrist straps but changed over to Mr Zhou's wriststraps, which are made from broad, very soft, very supple leather. They also have a stock that you can hold instead of getting cramp from clinging onto the split-ring and they have a leather retention loop that easily slides up and down the strap to prevent it from falling off the wrist. Mr Zhou's wrist straps are very inexpensive compared to A&A and Luigi and all mine have reached me in the UK roughly a week after payment. (I should probably think about moving on my A&A wrist straps.) Pete.
