Magnum Image Posted May 10, 2012 Share #41 Posted May 10, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) The Monochrome seems pretty cool for the select few that can afford such a camera but the X2 is completely underwhelming. For those of us who have an X1 would it really be worth upgrading to an X2 for a EVF slot? Really disappointed they did not put a built in EVF/OVF. Stealth3kpl Posted May 10, 2012 Share #45 Posted May 10, 2012 Leica M Monochrome. The answer to a question no one asked. Classic! Another good quote: http://www.rangefinderforum.com/forums/showpost.php?p=1876554&postcount=58 I have to admit I'm curious to see what can be achieved with the Monochrom(e) compared to the M9 in normal light levels. Steve Ash Posted May 10, 2012 Share #47 Posted May 10, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) The word out of Leica long ago was that they could improve the 50 Summicron, but it would be very expensive to do so (read here, 'cost prohibitive'), and they are true to their word. Luckily they keep the "old" Summicron in their portfolio which cools me down. Regards, Steve
wlaidlaw Posted May 10, 2012 Share #48 Posted May 10, 2012 At least the long lunch will have given our forum friends time to reflect on how much the trip to Berlin has cost them. As for product announcements, I am afraid like many other forum members - disappointed and underwhelmed. Not mainline products for mainline Leica users. noeffred Posted May 10, 2012 Share #50 Posted May 10, 2012 Is is just me or does the X2 EVF look suspiciously like the Olympus VF-2? Welcome, dear visitor! andybarton Posted May 10, 2012 Share #52 Posted May 10, 2012 What? The dealers don't sell Leica products to us for what they pay for them?? Outrage! Most people don't reveal the profit they make. I bet you'd be a bit upset if your customers knew your base costs.
J Mitchum Posted May 10, 2012 Share #53 Posted May 10, 2012 So after 3 years the X2 has the same LCD as the X1. The LCD was pretty bad when the X1 was first announced but now? Unbelievable. They seem to do as little as possible for as much money as possible.
peterv Posted May 10, 2012 Share #54 Posted May 10, 2012 Sample images of the M9-M here: http://de.leica-camera.com/photography/m_system/m_monochrom/ They look over-sharpened and a bit noisy to me.
Magnum Image Posted May 10, 2012 Share #55 Posted May 10, 2012 I just don't understand how you could basically cede the high quality P&S market to Fuji like that. Unless your a Leicaphile why would you choose the X2 over the X100? Even as someone who loves Leica as myself would not be able to find a good reason to pay 1000 more for a camera just because I could fit it that one jacket I have that has small pockets. Guest Ming Rider Posted May 10, 2012 Share #60 Posted May 10, 2012 Well, I must admit to having a small chuckle to myself. What a choker. Seems the 'happiness' seekers will have to stick with their 'outdated' M9's. And what possible use is a monochrome only digital M? I've got news for you, my M8 does color AND b&w. So how'd you like those apples ??
