Wow...this forum is the best I have encountered. As a new M8 owner, I have learned a great deal of very useful information that would have been difficult or impossible to obtain any other way. I would like to say thanks to everyone that has shared their experiences, both good and bad.

There's a good bunch of people here, no doubt. I've more or less abandoned participation in all other photography forums completely. I like the mix of technique and gear-talk here... hopefully once we get over the newness of the M8 and so forth we'll see more on the technique side (though there have been some really fantastic threads about digital workflow lately).

Anyway, yeah, it's a great place, thanks to all of you. Hooray for us!

One thing I have learned and i do spend my spare moments on the forums but lately only

here but a forum is only as good as the members that partcipate for a common goal to learn., teach and educate. Frankly out of all the forums I have spent a lot of time with , i enjoy this place the most. There are a lot of members that put there heart and soul in here and the biggest reason is i would assume is there is common interest for one but also is we don't have to fight trolls on a regular basis. On a personal level i have been abused , harassed, threatened and every other thing you can think off because of my views. I get none of that here and i am a very vocal person but i get treated with such respect here that any moment i spend is worth any effort I give. So thanks to all that live here. I mean this sincerely and i am not the mushy type but there are a lot here that i do consider friends.

Okay I had a few cocktails but i do mean this. LOL

I couldn't agree more.

I've only been visiting and contributing to this site for about a month, essentially since getting my M8. However, for the previous 6 or 7 years, I've read and participated in another Leica forum on another site which I won't mention by name.

The difference is remarkable. The other site is full of sarcasm, trolls and guys who have nothing better to do then criticize each other and jump down each others throats. This site is much more enjoyable and much more respectful of each other.

I've learned a great deal here in a month and I actually find it very relaxing and enjoyable to stop by here and do some reading and catch up on the latest thoughts.

I am far from a great photographer, I'd call myself middle of the road level but I certainly enjoy it and it is my hobby. I'm glad to have found this place and I too thank you all.

Thanks for the tip but the other forum was in no way affiliated with this one. A totally separate entity. They prefer to eat their young over at the other site, scary thing is most of them with the strongest opinions on the M8 have never even seen one, let alone owned one.

I, for one, have to say that this forum has refire my photo and Leica passion. I am a member since 2003, but rarely came in. Last months and weeks I used to visit and more and more like it. Lot of nice people helping and very able to do. You can even find people working on software in order to use it with your M8 and others create an automator in order to simplify the job. Even the original brand seems to be unaware of these possibilities.

Not to mention the very skilled photomen all around, or the ones able to help you in the most technical part of your camera or lens.

All of that in a friendly way. Its a great place indeed. Welcome!

My M8 was my first plunge into rangefinder waters, without this group I would have sunk without trace. You have been helpful, non rancorous (is that a word?) and supportive. It is easy to post here because even if the question is silly or basic someone will post and help you out.

I try to imagine having the M8 without this group and I shudder at the thought of such loneliness, I would have to make even more mistakes than I do at the moment.

Cheers everyone.

Recently new to Leica, and like most noobs went looking for a forum... Stumbled on the "other" one. Geeze! Are they for real?

Then found this LUF. What a treat it is to scan the daily messages. So informative and not a bit of biting sarcasm. Thank you all for being here!

Just like to concur with everything said. I too am new to rangefinder cameras, and spent weeks reading every post in an attempt to understanding what was going on and to get to grips, before the M8 arrived.

The amount of help and assistance that is happily voluntered on here is remarkable, and puts just about everyother forum l used to frequent to shame.
