Advertisement Posted April 5, 2012 Posted April 5, 2012 Hi menos I M6, Take a look here If Kodak goes Titanic, what will you use in place of Tri-X?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Messsucherkamera Posted April 5, 2012 Author Share #22 Posted April 5, 2012 Trust me: HP5@800 and 1600 in Rodinal is truly beautiful. Okay, now you have made me curious about this ISO/film/developer combo. I'm going to have to give it a try. I seem to remember seeing a handful of HP5+ rolls in the depths of the freezer... MPerson Posted April 6, 2012 Share #23 Posted April 6, 2012 I stopped using Tri-X some time ago in favour of Double-X and ORWO N 74 plus.

smb Posted April 9, 2012 Share #27 Posted April 9, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) It is not so much the difficulty of obtaining film that worries me but the ability to have it processed. I prefer to deal with a lab directly but they are becoming a rarity. Both these issues would occur simultaneously, IMHO, and then I would go to the M9 as I already have the lenses. andybarton Posted April 10, 2012 Share #31 Posted April 10, 2012 That's very interesting. It's also exciting that there are companies who see a future in new films. I will most definitely be trying somewhen it ones though.

bull40 Posted April 11, 2012 Share #33 Posted April 11, 2012 I just looked up Adox this weekend and found an outlet for it here in the states. I'm excited! Any recommendations or thoughts on their products?

davidbaddley Posted April 11, 2012 Share #35 Posted April 11, 2012 Yeah, the story I got is that ADOX not only bought the rights to reproduce Agfa products, but they actually purchased much of the original production equipment and hired many of the same employees. I've been using their Rodinal (now called Adonal) for a few years, with excellent results. It performs exactly the same, which of course it should, since it uses the same formula with the same ingredients made with the same equipment by the same people. I can't wait to try the ADOX PAN 100 (not yet released), supposedly exactly like Agfa APX 100 but improved (whatever that means). They also have CHS 100, which is an old-school silver-rich emulsion. The Agfa PAN APX 400 was almost exactly like Tri-X (much closer than HP-5) so, hopefully, the ADOX PAN 400 should be the closest thing to Tri-X. bull40 Posted April 11, 2012 Share #37 Posted April 11, 2012 Yes, David is correct. Freestyle photographic is the place. I haven't done any business with them as yet, but looks like an interesting site.

chrism Posted April 13, 2012 Share #39 Posted April 13, 2012 At my present rate of consumption, my widow will have some Tri-X (rolls and bulk) along with some Plus-X (rolls only) to sell, with a dedicated freezer thrown in. Life has to slow down soon......I hope. Chris
