RockyIII Posted March 8, 2012 Share #3 Posted March 8, 2012 I have not downloaded Lightroom for my M9. When I go to the owners area of the Leica website, I see the option to download "software for image editing," but it does not say what the software is or what version. I suppose it might if I enter my TAN number and proceed, but I'm worried if I go that far I might be stuck with downloading Lightroom 3. I hope somebody will post when Lightroom 4 is there. Rocky Just wait as everybody is saying (Leica as well). You can try out LR4 for 30 days, until then it should be fixed.

Rocky You can put your TAN number in and go to the next step where you can select the language option for your LR download. Right now only LR3 is available at the download site, but they have just put up this notice so LR4 should be available soon: Important information about Adobe® Photoshop® Lightroom® 4: Adobe® Photoshop® Lightroom® 4 will soon be available for downloading. In the meantime, you can download the 30-day trial version with complete functionality from the Adobe website. Please note the system requirements. We thank you for your understanding and wish you continued enjoyment of your Leica products.
Prem Posted March 8, 2012 Share #6 Posted March 8, 2012 Also you're licence will be valid for two times downloading when I'm right. Prem
kdriceman Posted March 8, 2012 Share #7 Posted March 8, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) Also you're licence will be valid for two times downloading when I'm right. Prem That's what it says on the site and that is consistent with Adobe's licensing policy.

schmolinski Posted March 8, 2012 Share #9 Posted March 8, 2012 I have posted in the German forum. here is an English excerpt. Here is the original mail correspondence in German. My Mail in brief says: Do I have the right to access to LR 4 download when available, and I haven't used my License so far since I owned LR 3 before M9 purchase. The CS answer says: With one week delay we will provide LR 4 on our Servers. Please be patient. Beforehand you could download the test version. But one thing I can't answer: I don't know whether this service is only available if you have NOT downloaded yet the 3.2 version of LR directly from LEICA webpage. On the German CS website is written (AFTER using your TAN) that you only have access to download the LR software (currently 3.2) when not downloaded yet. Otherwise the download link would not be available. Hope this helps.

However one would assume your version of LR3 would entitle you to the upgrade price of LR4

wda Posted March 8, 2012 Share #12 Posted March 8, 2012 The upgrade price is very reasonable.
Double Negative Posted March 8, 2012 Share #13 Posted March 8, 2012 The upgrade price is very reasonable. $79, indeed. Even bought at full price, the new price isn't bad - $149.
ymc226 Posted March 8, 2012 Share #14 Posted March 8, 2012 FYI M9 does not tether with LR4 That's too bad. I need would like to shoot studio shots tethered. Is there a work around? Moreover, is there a commercial wireless hardware/software product that is similar to what is available for Canon users regarding wireless tether? Tbeb Posted March 9, 2012 Share #15 Posted March 9, 2012 I did upgrade to LR4 with the license I got witn my TAN number. It works fine.

Moreover, is there a commercial wireless hardware/software product that is similar to what is available for Canon users regarding wireless tether? You can use Image Capture if you have a Mac to trigger the shutter tethered on a Mac. Open Image Capture, plug in the M9. Image Capture will recognize the M9. Click: File>Take Picture and a dialog box will open giving you a couple options. One just a shutter trigger, the other is a timed trigger. It's not the greatest tethered shooting, but it will work. elgenper Posted March 10, 2012 Share #17 Posted March 10, 2012 I did upgrade to LR4 with the license I got witn my TAN number. It works fine. OK, but then you had to pay for the upgrade, right? That´s only fair, and the upgrade price is reasonable, so no big deal.
pelagia Posted March 10, 2012 Share #18 Posted March 10, 2012 Another question, if it is beneficial at all for M9 shooters to upgrade from 3 to 4. LR4 has not added much for the image processing, did not go in depth. Instead, it has expanded laterally, to please, I suppose, the mainstream advanced amateurs. For professional work, the "books", "websites", "slideshows" modules of LR are not sufficient solutions anyway. I will either stay with LR3.6, or will look for another raw processor. Well, the 2012 process/algorithms are all improved and include a revised, easier to use adjustments panel, and include lens profiles for 21 M lenses. In short, your images should look better with LR4 - and be easier to adjust/correct. Otherwise, I'd agree - unless you do books, etc. it's not necessarily a "must have" update. But I've heard all good things about it. Best bet - download the trial and compare output.
hermanp Posted March 10, 2012 Share #20 Posted March 10, 2012 What has always been an major annoyance in LR to me is that you are forced to use the LR catalog in order to process a raw image. The program did not have a "file" mode like DxO Optics Professional or Corel AfterShot Pro. Is that still the case? If there is no way around using the catalog I won't even bother to download a trial version.
