On the assumption that you mean eBay, the reference number leads to a dead end.

(I have never understood why people are afraid to type "eBay". Or "Canon", or "Nikon" for that matter)

In my case the number found a Series 0 Leica #7 With a 86 Euro bid on it and auctioned by a Russian seller....

This is the 7th camera of the Leica 0-series.

Only approx. 21 of these cameras were produced to test the market in 1923, 2 years before the commercial introduction of the Leica A. The camera is in excellent and fully working condition, all parts including the paintwork are original, though the camera was puplished years ago without lens and leather covering.

The original Leica 0-series lens and the contemporary Leitz leather have been mounted by Ottmar Michealy in Wetzlar, the folding finder has been replaced by the later Galilean finder as usual.

It is the only camera known with "Germany" engraving on the top plate. The factory record indicates delivery to New York for patent applies. This means that this camera is not only one of the major rarities existing, it is also the first Leica being exported.

What amazes me is that the present seller has an account with 100% favourable evaluations. 70 transactions, including 13 sales, so not many. But, still, not immediately obvious as a fraudster were he claiming to sell a different item from this one.

I understand, possibly from a post on this forum, that it is not too difficult to come up with a number of different Ebay membership names, that can be used to give false feedback ratings to a fraudulent site . Of course, a group of people with separate memberships could do this more easily. As I write this, I remember I've seen the evidence of this around a year or so ago and reported it. That post alerted me to it happening. David
