.... the metal hood is a menace and taking it on/off and inverting in for storage results in scrapes in no time no matter how careful you are.

I use a collapsible rubber hood which I keep permanently attached for this particular reason.

The case for the macro attachment is also miles too big and I use a soft padded leather zipped mobile phone pouch instead.

You won't be disappointed .... this is a high quality take anywhere combo that you will rarely leave behind...

....oh and happy birthday when it comes :)

Thanks, but it's still a few months away. I'll give the lens to my wife in time for her to wrap it for the kids to give to me for my birthday. :D

I'm very pleased at the condition and price (and warranty).

Have you seen the outrageous prices on eBay for these kits in Hong Kong?

I'll take your advice re the rubber hood and alternate pouch for the macro adapter.

Which rubber hood do you use?

Mark

[…]Which rubber hood do you use?

Aside from third party 39mm hoods (from Heliopan for inst.), you might wish to use the rubber hood of the "thin" Tele-Elmarit (hood # 11250 + hood ring # 11251 & hood cap # 11252). It is made for series 5.5 filters but can be screwed onto regular 39mm filters as well. Also there is the slightly smaller rubber hood of the Elmar-C 90/4 (hood # 12517 + hood cap # 14191) that i use personally. It is made for series 5.5 filters but can be screwed onto regular 39mm filters as well. I would not screw it directly onto the lens though as it has not the same filter thread as the latter's.
