As per M3 usage: Sometimes a little. Sometimes a lot. I don't measure the # of pictures. I think about what percentage of "keepers" there are & what percentage are proper exposure, composition, etc. Sometimes it takes all day or longer for that 1 picture to be just right. Other times there are 9 pictures, unbelievebly good, available to take in 2 minutes. When you walk thru a doorway sometimes life becomes a roll of the Cosmic Dice. I have always recommended to students the go out for the day knowing you can make only 3 exposures. Interesting how that improves the results. Interesting how that improves the results. Nice idea. We used to send out students with a 12-exposure roll of slide film to find and tell a story. I only use it for things when I don't need the photos right away because I have trouble shooting an entire roll at once. I use the digital for work and situations where I need instant gratification. kokoshawnuff Posted January 10, 2012 Share #10 Posted January 10, 2012 Of the 15+ rolls I shoot per month I use my M3 for maybe 5, it's great for the 90mm and 135mm focal lengths. Self capping shutter w/ higher speeds, etc. II. Above + Range & Viewfinder built in, etc. III. Mainly due to the M3 being my favoured 135 camera, but I more often use 120 cameras when still shooting film. But for 35mm, I use the M3 much, much more often than my other “small” shooter, the Olympus XA. Still, I use it less often, perhaps every two to three months for one to two rolls. Hence the average. I might use the M3 more often if I finally got around developing BnW film myself. I’m not the most impatient person on earth, but due to labs shutting down in Switzerland it takes me about 10 days to have the film developed, sometimes longer. And that’s too long for assignments and, I admit, my own curiosity of how it turned out. But every time I receive the negatives and scan them, I can’t help but admire how a camera that’s almost 60 years old still produces images SilverEfex et al find it hard to hold a candle to.
