Advertisement Posted February 22, 2007 Posted February 22, 2007 Hi ddp, Take a look here Hudson River - Winter. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
stuny Posted February 22, 2007 Share #2 Posted February 22, 2007 Looking towards the Tappan Zee Bridge from lower Westchester? A lovely trio, all well composed, but number 2 with its details, light, bold colors and great depth is my favorite.
ddp Posted February 23, 2007 Author Share #3 Posted February 23, 2007 Thanks Stuart - it was in Piermont on the western bank - not sure if that's Westchester County or not, might be Rockland.
stuny Posted February 23, 2007 Share #4 Posted February 23, 2007 Rockland. You're looking down river when I thought you were looking up river.
andybarton Posted February 23, 2007 Share #5 Posted February 23, 2007 Nice subdued colours, Dan.
ECliffordSmith Posted February 23, 2007 Share #6 Posted February 23, 2007 Dan, I enjoyed all three thanks but the contrast between sky, ice and wreed in the second is very appealing.
elansprint72 Posted February 23, 2007 Share #7 Posted February 23, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Dan, Good set; that looks a cold place! Difficult for us in the UK to appreciate your range of temperatures over there.
ejd Posted February 24, 2007 Share #8 Posted February 24, 2007 It may be very cold in New York, but the blue skies are to be envied! The reeds in #2 set off the blue sky and river wonderfully. John

ddp Posted March 1, 2007 Author Share #10 Posted March 1, 2007 Thanks for the previous comments! I also shot with a borrowed 21 asph. Ilford Pan F Plus(ISO 50) I prefer the B&W myself...
andybarton Posted March 1, 2007 Share #11 Posted March 1, 2007 I certainly like the second B&W one.
lambroving Posted March 1, 2007 Share #12 Posted March 1, 2007 I certainly like the second B&W one. Dan sent me that one this AM and I asked him to post # 2 with the color shots. Exposure might be better too. #2 color might have looked a bit better -1/2 stop, but that's just my taste for snow scenes. Dan usually has a killer eye for reading light. andybarton Posted March 1, 2007 Share #13 Posted March 1, 2007 If you hadn't seen the colour versions, you wouldn't necessarily know that the snow in number 2 is snow. It looks like the foam that you see on the edges of lakes sometimes when the wind has been whipping up the surface. The composition in number 2 is by far the best of the lot, IMHO.
