andybarton Posted December 5, 2011 Author Share #21 Posted December 5, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) I will book the hotel today (too busy yesterday). It helps to spread the cost over the year, I find.
Advertisement Posted December 5, 2011 Posted December 5, 2011 Hi andybarton, Take a look here Copenhagen: FINAL CALL. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
erl Posted December 5, 2011 Share #22 Posted December 5, 2011 How do you guys do it? I'll be lucky if I could book a couple of weeks in advance. No idea if I will make Copenhagen. I have Vietnam and China on my list, and of course a return to Napoli to recover what I 'left' behind. Then there is Southern India too. All dreams of course, but what else is there in life? I enjoy what actually happens at the time so will wait and see. Just finished my book on Venice (2010 Challenge). Will send it to Blurb in a day or two. The trouble with these trips, they create soooo much work to be completed.
andybarton Posted December 5, 2011 Author Share #23 Posted December 5, 2011 I have to book these things in advance so that I know what am doing and can try to arrange work commitments around them. I can never take a couple of weeks off at short notice as my diary would be full if I left it too late.
eckart Posted December 5, 2011 Share #24 Posted December 5, 2011 Andy your are totally right. In Venice I had booked months before and I succeed because the date was existing. Malta and Palermo I failed because when the date came near I noticed there will be no time...I will book Copenhagen very soon, but I don't know by now whether it will be the train or a airplane. cbretteville Posted December 6, 2011 Share #25 Posted December 6, 2011 Train, so much more relaxing than by air. The Mrs and I will go by sea, slow but much nicer. Carl

andybarton Posted December 6, 2011 Author Share #27 Posted December 6, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) I booked a hotel yesterday through booking.com You pay the hotel, unlike Expedia, where you pay them upfront. Much better.
bill Posted December 6, 2011 Share #28 Posted December 6, 2011 When do you pay? On arrival? Regards, Bill
andybarton Posted December 6, 2011 Author Share #29 Posted December 6, 2011 On departure. But at least you know that you have booked a room. That's how I booked the room in Palermo. I'd rather have the money in my account than in Expedia's
bill Posted December 6, 2011 Share #30 Posted December 6, 2011 Damn right. Think I used Venere last couple of times. Thanks for that. Regards, Bill
spylaw4 Posted December 6, 2011 Share #31 Posted December 6, 2011 Yes I used booking.com for Palermo as well. Pay the hotel on departure. 2012 - not forgetting Photokina the month before - that's another expense! But it's all budgeted for.

Whatever happens, the British humour stays fully operational. Good to see some things don't change. Stefan

andybarton Posted December 17, 2011 Author Share #38 Posted December 17, 2011 Just checked Sleazy. Doesn't look like flights are available in October yet. SAS can do the same trip, though. Will be nice not to have to drive 250 miles to and from the airport...
