Advertisement Posted November 17, 2011 Posted November 17, 2011 Hi Stealth3kpl, Take a look here More Kodak films discontinued?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
bill Posted November 17, 2011 Share #2 Posted November 17, 2011 For those who can't be bothered to click through, or who find RFF too PC: "Tmax 400 120 IN SINGLE ROLLS Tri-x pan 120 400 IN SINGLE ROLLS Elite Chrome 100/36 BW400cn/24 three packs Gold 200/24 four packs Max 400/12 single roll Max 400/24 four packs" The key point here, I think, is not the emulsion it is how it is presented/packaged. That said, I can't say I have ever seen 400CN in 24exp 3 packs, and I can't imagine a huge demand for Max 400 in 12 exp form... Regards. Bill
cbretteville Posted November 17, 2011 Share #3 Posted November 17, 2011 As long as I can get Tri-X in 135 and 120 formats I'll be very happy, bricks at a time is fine with me. Carl
Joachim123 Posted November 17, 2011 Share #4 Posted November 17, 2011 I will be happy as long as I can get 100g in 120 and 35mm formats. Otherwise, its off to Fuji.
stunsworth Posted November 17, 2011 Share #5 Posted November 17, 2011 The key point here, I think, is not the emulsion it is how it is presented/packaged Apart from Elite Chrome which is being totally discontinued.
Messsucherkamera Posted November 17, 2011 Share #6 Posted November 17, 2011 It sounds as if Kodak is consolidating packaging rather than eliminating film types (with the emulsions mentioned in the original post, that is). As long as Kodak keeps making Tri-X, they can sell it in 50 or 100 roll bricks and I won't complain. We really don't want to see Tri-X go to the gallows the way Kodachrome did - but then with Tri-X, it's a totally different scenario as you can develop it at home if you want to. NB23 Posted November 17, 2011 Share #8 Posted November 17, 2011 This goes to show how bad the film market is: On Rangefinderforum.com, some people don't even know what is a single-roll pack and a pro-pack, and yet they try so hard to sound like die-hard film shooters and they are now preparing to stock up. Yaaaaaaaaawn!!! There's no discontinuation, only a change in packaging.
St.Valentine Posted November 17, 2011 Share #9 Posted November 17, 2011 There seems to be a lot of doomsayers over there. As everyone here noted quite quickly it´s all about the packaging. Kodak really has to streamline it´s business to survive, they even sold their digital sensor branch to avoid insolvency. Kodak seems to make quite an effort in doing so and the luxury of fancy sized packaging is the least they can afford. I´d say good one Kodak! Just carry on with making the TMax..... Rona!d Posted November 17, 2011 Share #10 Posted November 17, 2011 Pretty sad for Elite Chrome, that came most close to my discontinued favourite film E100GX. That G is too cold and neutral and the others (was it VX?) too saturated. Elite Chrome was good and also not expensive. Just bought some Elites for the freezer to save my next summers holiday. Tri-X grain is just not right for my prints... Yipikaye ........... Regards, B.
