250swb Posted September 22, 2011 Share #21 Â Posted September 22, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) The irony is that the very same people who buy the case you mention are the ones who will tape over the red dot on their M9, or buy an M9-P, because they want to become invisible. And with this case I can't think of anything that would make you more visible. Â Its a fashion statement, nothing to do with photography, and if you don't believe me look closely at the photograph in the advert. The model has his left hand through the wrist strap, ready to quickly remove the camera from its holster......and presumably take a self portrait LOL! wattsy Posted September 22, 2011 Share #23  Posted September 22, 2011 OMG. £350 for a holster. no more said  It looks beautifully made and, considering the work that must go into making one, I think the price is very reasonable (people on this forum pay more for all sorts of tat). However, it's not the way I'd ever want to carry one of my cameras. Holster approach aside, the products also look a bit too over engineered and chunky for me. All a bit too horsey (which is unsurprising given the background of one of the people behind the new product). I briefly considered supporting the venture by buying one of the wrist straps but they look about as comfortable to use as attaching a thick trouser belt to your camera. efftee Posted September 22, 2011 Share #24 Â Posted September 22, 2011 Thanks for the no-nonsense feedback. Nothing like coming to LUF for some straight-to-the-point clarity.

dubes Posted September 22, 2011 Share #26 Â Posted September 22, 2011 Hey, I resemble that remark, Andy! I often carry a camera in a neoprene pouch on my belt (albeit, the camera in question is a small Nex-5 and not an M9, but still...). Not a fashion statement, mind, but I find it to be very convenient!
colonel Posted September 22, 2011 Share #27  Posted September 22, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) Not sure if this is the right forum to ask, but since I'm using a M9 and intend to check out this case in relation to the M9, here it is. If not, mods, feel free to move. Anyone had any first hand experience with their cases, especially the Uhl Collection (FAST+PRIME)?  Thanks  its quite nice, but for me the problem is that I would be worried about it knocking something as I walk. It doesn't look like it has enough protection, but it seems the swingable type.  just FYI I use a small case with hard sides that is just big enough for the M9 + half-leather case + 50mm summilux + some nik-naks It has a clever swivel strap, so you can never put it on the "wrong way". Kata DC-433. Shoulder Bags (Kata Bags)  When I am taking pictures I carry the M9 in my hand, I do not use leather strap.

thighslapper Posted September 22, 2011 Share #29  Posted September 22, 2011 Gentlemen/Ladies  One small correction, It's in Pounds not Dollars. US $844 more or less. Which makes it even more outrageous.  Well I was going to use some offcuts from an arrow quiver I made .... and the whole original (huge) piece only cost £50..... saddlery/sewing leather is easy and the gear needed very inexpensive.... taught myself from a book in half a day...... I'm sure I can run up something more functional and elegant than this odd contraption....

Ironically, I don't use anything other than an A&A silk cord, usually just rolled around my wrist, when I go out with the camera. It's easy and fast when I want to snap something but it occupies one hand completely. In that respect, I was just wondering how useful a holster type thing is. rob139 Posted September 23, 2011 Share #32 Â Posted September 23, 2011 Ugh, that is so ugly, is that a cowboy & country look? Unpractical, a recipe for damaging your camera, and even downright dangerous. One could get shot carrying a holster-like thing like that. Â There is another company that makes similar things, copied from the M9 Tit holster I presume? Well, what can you expect, even the original was ugly. M9 Pete Posted September 23, 2011 Share #35  Posted September 23, 2011 OMG. £350 for a holster. no more said  Same price as Leica charge for an Ever Ready Case.  Spoke to the guy who makes them. Extremely helpful and went to a lot of trouble for me to help with my purchase. Told me it takes one person 4 days to make a full set (Case, Belt / Strap, Lens Case, Wrist Strap and Padded Shoulder Strap. Total cost for full set is under £600. I have no problem paying that for 4 days craftsmanship.  So I've ordered the set.  Will have to wait 5 weeks owing to demand. Maybe I could spend the time taping over the red dot on my M9 :-)  Will let you know more when they arrive.  Pete.
budrichard Posted September 24, 2011 Share #36 Â Posted September 24, 2011 M9 Pete, I for one, look forward to your Post on this case and shoulder arrangement. Your Post is about the only civil Post on this thread. I have always carried my cameras with only neck straps for over 40+ years without cases, one on my shoulder with a locking epaulet and one around my neck and they have taken the knocks and dings and if needing to run to cover news, they swing. I have always wished for a more suitable arrangement but never found one. At this time I use at least one M7 with Motor M. so after your Post, I may inquire whether this case can be made for my M7/Motor combination. I think the idea deserves some scrutiny and I certainly don't have any problem paying the price for hand done work. Thanks for your Post Pete!-Dick

I have no problem paying that [ca. £600] for 4 days craftsmanship.  Pete.  The cost of a Leica A la Carte case (ca. £350) is equally astonishing. Irrespective of the time taken or the "craftsmanship" involved in making the Uhl products, for me it remains an inordinately large amount for a carry-case and strap. But perhaps that says more about my disposable income than my good taste . . .
