I understand it may be the seller be outlandish and if that's the reason ok but please no nasty remarks about the seller, other than he has used very bad judgement in setting his price Thanks and take care, Jim
Advertisement Posted September 10, 2011 Posted September 10, 2011 Hi jmooney, Take a look here Why is this Leica I priced this way?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
andybarton Posted September 10, 2011 Share #2 Posted September 10, 2011 He has priced it the same as the serial number. And talk about hyperbole in the description... In which case, my M7 is worth around $2,786,000. Please form an orderly queue.
k_g_wolf ✝ Posted September 10, 2011 Share #3 Posted September 10, 2011 Yes, funny, he must have mixed things up. This can´t be serious. Even in case he ships it free of charge for the buyer, I predict, this item won´t sell. best GEORG
luigi bertolotti Posted September 10, 2011 Share #4 Posted September 10, 2011 He has priced it the same as the serial number. And talk about hyperbole in the description... In which case, my M7 is worth around $2,786,000. Please form an orderly queue. And my M8 more than $ 3,190.000 : after all, a newer camera is better to use or not ? jmooney Posted September 10, 2011 Author Share #5 Posted September 10, 2011 I thought it was an inaccurate price. I also take exception to the "9++ out of 10" condition. It is an old camera but it hasn't aged gracefully. It's fortunate it hasn't been repainted though. Thank you all for confirming I have learned a thing or two in my research. Best, Jim
jmooney Posted September 10, 2011 Author Share #6 Posted September 10, 2011 I guess this must be the seller's marketing angle. Here's another of his auctions: Black MP with Leciavit and 50mm Summicron for $250,000: "Excellent+++" Leica MP Black Paint W/50mm f2 Lens 1958 | eBay Interesting tactic. I guess it's partially successful since it's got us all looking at it and talking about it.
luigi bertolotti Posted September 10, 2011 Share #7 Posted September 10, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) Supposed is original, the fine reapint of body / Leicavit / lens is well worth the cost...

jerzy Posted September 11, 2011 Share #10 Posted September 11, 2011 it's close focus version, less common, still taking into consideration condition of this Leica and applying factor 100 to the Buy it price would represent appropriate starting price. I believe it is known as well that the first Leica "imported" to US was Leica 107 sold earlier this year at Westlicht
someonenameddavid Posted September 11, 2011 Share #11 Posted September 11, 2011 I wonder if some of these excessively high camera prices aren't insurance scams... I also wonder how "Photo-Arsenal" stays in business David
Robert J Posted September 12, 2011 Share #12 Posted September 12, 2011 Look at this listing. It is the ended listing where the seller who is offering this camera for $35,050,bought it for $463.00. Thank you Robert, Very interesting . There is also someone who places 30 or 40 scarce Leica items into auction with a very low starting price, then in the description says do not bid, but contact an Email address and the price is A$1300 for each item. At least twice this auction site has deleted these items, but this person comes back under another name. Be careful.
jpattison Posted September 12, 2011 Share #15 Posted September 12, 2011 Why is the black paint over the serial number scraped off in such a way? It looks very suspicious to me! John
