Hi all

Please feel free to show your favorite R lens attached to a non-Leica camera body whether it's a Canon, Nikon, Pentax ... whether it's digital or film.

As with all other "I love my ..." camera p0rn threads I kindly ask you to not use this thread as a discussion platform for technical matters but for pictures (of the gear) only.

Let's start

Canon 5D

Leica Vario-Elmar-R 1:3.5-4/21-35

Leitax Conversion

RRS L-Plate

Lee Filters

Yeah, why not.

APO ELMARIT R 180mm on F4 | Flickr - Photo Sharing!

APO Elmarit 180mm was the lens that made me realise what part of photographic equipment really matters, apart from the dummy behind the camera of course :).

Tricky lens to focus with its smooth focusing ring but results are better, in my experience, than any Nikon lens in that focal range, perhaps Nikon 200mm f2 is close.

I have subsequently reverse converted mine to try it out on the forthcoming either NEX or GXR camera.

Big credit to Leica for making R lenses convertible, I recon similar destiny may await M's with the advances of mirrorless/EVF CSC and Leica's inherent inertia to bring to market suitable R solution - September 2012 is long way away in modern technological race.

I modified my Sigma for Leica R mount and typically use my 35, 50 & 80-200 on it.

I love my Leica lenses and I use them on non-Leica digital bodies but I wish Leica had produced a full frame R10 although I understand the reasons why it didn't. It's far better to have Leica and no R10 than an R10 and no Leica.

I have tried Leica lenses on Canon cameras and was disappointed in the experience. My 19mm f2.8 clashed with the mirror, so was un-useable. The others were OK but the stop down metering is so 1950s and the focusing screens are poor (except the EOS 1Ds mk2 with non-standard screen specially for manual focus).

I bought a used DMR for my R8 and haven't looked back - stunning results.
