mmradman Posted September 10, 2011 Share #2 Â Posted September 10, 2011 Yeah, why not. Â APO ELMARIT R 180mm on F4 | Flickr - Photo Sharing! Â APO Elmarit 180mm was the lens that made me realise what part of photographic equipment really matters, apart from the dummy behind the camera of course . Â Tricky lens to focus with its smooth focusing ring but results are better, in my experience, than any Nikon lens in that focal range, perhaps Nikon 200mm f2 is close. Â I have subsequently reverse converted mine to try it out on the forthcoming either NEX or GXR camera. Â Big credit to Leica for making R lenses convertible, I recon similar destiny may await M's with the advances of mirrorless/EVF CSC and Leica's inherent inertia to bring to market suitable R solution - September 2012 is long way away in modern technological race. farnz Posted September 11, 2011 Share #8  Posted September 11, 2011 I love my Leica lenses and I use them on non-Leica digital bodies but I wish Leica had produced a full frame R10 although I understand the reasons why it didn't. It's far better to have Leica and no R10 than an R10 and no Leica. Canon 5D MkII with 80/1.4 Summilux-R  Welcome, dear visitor! frank_dernie Posted September 13, 2011 Share #12 Â Posted September 13, 2011 I have tried Leica lenses on Canon cameras and was disappointed in the experience. My 19mm f2.8 clashed with the mirror, so was un-useable. The others were OK but the stop down metering is so 1950s and the focusing screens are poor (except the EOS 1Ds mk2 with non-standard screen specially for manual focus). I bought a used DMR for my R8 and haven't looked back - stunning results. Â Frank
