Advertisement Posted February 13, 2007 Posted February 13, 2007 Hi j. borger, Take a look here Boxcar. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
andybarton Posted February 13, 2007 Share #2 Posted February 13, 2007 This shot is something special with what is often a very mundane subject. The light is super.
stuny Posted February 13, 2007 Share #3 Posted February 13, 2007 JB - The strange light and strange, subtle colors are stunning. Is this what it looked like? Did you achive this post production?
JE Posted February 14, 2007 Share #4 Posted February 14, 2007 Great atmosphere. I really like the colors in this photo. I think it'd work well in B&W too. Well captured. J
j. borger Posted February 14, 2007 Author Share #5 Posted February 14, 2007 THanks for the feedback guys! It was special light ... just a short break in the sky between two snowstorms ...! The red of the boxcar is a bit more saturated than it was in the real scene .. but not very much ...
samwells Posted February 14, 2007 Share #6 Posted February 14, 2007 As Stuart says, very strange, portentous light...rather eerie shot. The half-open door of the boxcar suggests that Something is in there, and it's going to come out... Thanx for showing. cheers: Sam
zanydave Posted February 14, 2007 Share #7 Posted February 14, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) It has a real painterly look to it, turning a mundane subject into a lovely image. Dave
ECliffordSmith Posted February 15, 2007 Share #8 Posted February 15, 2007 J, As stated above, the light is very special and well captured. I like the sharpness throughout the image too. It compliments the light nicely.
garyp Posted February 15, 2007 Share #9 Posted February 15, 2007 Compliments on the photo... plus, any story behind the boxcar? Looks like it may have housed an office or maybe it was for animal transport? The curved roof and chimney sort of peaked my interest. Thanks GaryP
gverdon Posted February 15, 2007 Share #10 Posted February 15, 2007 Wow, missed that one. Superb... moody, well processed and full of emotion. Gérald
arminw Posted February 15, 2007 Share #11 Posted February 15, 2007 The Sharpness , colour and composition are perfect and make this picture outstanding ... it's not easy to photograph an old train wagon and make it look interesting . However , you've done exactly that ...
