It's a battery-les, amorphous, non-contiuous silver halide crystal technology that provides a new full frame sensor with each shot, hence negating the need for frequent sensor cleaning.

Wow, must be something new I guess!

Oh yes, those who are flying to Palermo please take note: the arrangements for the bus have changed since I was in Palermo in December so what I wrote earlier is now wrong. They are rebuilding at the airport so the bus stop has moved and when I trudged down to the underground train station to buy the bus ticket, the little kiosk was closed. I found the Prestia e Comande bus by walking out of the front of the airport, turning right, walking 50 metres or so until I found a slanted concrete building-bunker-thing on the left and the bus was waiting beyond that.

I paid as I entered the bus and the price was 5 Euro 80. If you have the correct shrapnel (change) you'll avoid the rather melodramatic rolly-eyes and world-weary "huff" from the driver.

Pete.

Hi Carsten,

We are arriving Thursday early evening. Could meet you later for a drink, just let us know when and where.

Jana

Jana - fab - great that you're coming - Emma and I will be there

Definitely up for a Thursday evening drink - splendid - when and where is more problematic!

I'm upping my intended ISO and packing a hat...

Regards,

Bill

It's looking a bit better now - last night it was looking like torrential rain all Saturday - now it's looking like raining from midday Friday until Saturday morning . . . showers afterwards.

Here's hoping!

I've just got to Taormina after a lengthy train journey from Palermo and the weather has stepped up its game. It's a cloudless, breezeless, wood-melting 34C as I gaze across from my balcony to the impressive site of the glistening Baia dell'Isola Bella (Bay of the Beautiful Island) beside Aetna as she engages in a post-prandial cigar. The smoke is lazily curling away towards the south-east like a bronzed fashion model languorously turning over in her sun bed beside an azure pool as her coconut suntan oil sizzles gently on her skin.

I cast an energy-sapped thought at why it has taken me so long to find this place and I come up empty and carry on blissfully basking. If only I had brought a Lupin to bring me an ice-cold beer ...

Pete.

:) very waxy and lyrical!

I'm in an office near Norwich, watching the drizzle faintly mist the outside of the steamy windows yadayadayada.

Mind you, Adam did just bring me a creamy cappuccino

The rest of us should just about get there in time for the 'Thunderstorms with Hail' which Meteo is promising for Friday night!

Saturday looks better after a grim start (lengthy sunny spells, rain show, cloud cover 3/8 - 20C)

Have a fab time Pete - sounds great

all the best
