Lillo (near Antwerp) and M8

Hi there - many thanks for responding

Robert and William - thanks for the remarks - it was a spooky place, rather like something out of a John Le Carre novel - very atmostpheric.

Stuart and William

Thanks for the suggestion - it was an interesting problem - I needed to keep a wide aperture to be able to hand hold (nearest tripod 100 miles away!) - so depth of field was always going to be a bit of an issue. I took lots of shots, and without the big beam on the left it seems to me to lose the looming atmosphere (try it on your screen). As for tilting to the left - well, it's straight (at least, the horizon is straight, the beams were on the piss).

Of course, one makes these decisions for reasons - but it's always possible to be wrong :)

Thanks again for commenting

Jono, good to see you got your M8 back. Lovely shot. I haven't pulled the trigger yet. Trying to decide if I really want to get rid of the D200. It appears the M8 is now in fairly plentiful supply here across the pond. Meanwhile I (always) continue to shoot the M4.

Cheers,

John

Hi John

My D200 has gone (no regrets yet) I've still got my Olympus 4/3 gear though.

Jonathan -

Lovely, atmospheric, mysterious without being foreboding. I might have done what John suggests, as well as to lean a bit to the left after moving. Then again, it might not have worked.

:D :D :D Great atmospheric shot Jono, as Stuart implies, it is sometimes best not to follow all the "advice" posted here to the letter. Glug, glug.
