icemanhk Posted June 29, 2011 Share #1 Posted June 29, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hello My M9 sensor got problem now. There are 3 spots on the sensor, which cannot be cleaned. I brought to repair specialist, he confirmed me that he cannot clean it also. So, I email to see if I can send back to Solmn, waited two days but no reply. I searched my email, found that I asked two questions in last 2 years about M9 to customer service, one is for AWB, the another is for scratched viewfinder, but I never get any reply from them. As the two questions are not that important, so I just left them and no follow up. I would like to know, if anybody here ever get reply from? If I still do not have their reply, to whom I can escalate and send my complaint letter to? Many thanks.

UliWer Posted June 29, 2011 Share #2 Posted June 29, 2011 The mail address you mention should be right. Perhaps you try again with When I had a question I usually got an instant reply.
astroboy888 Posted June 29, 2011 Share #3 Posted June 29, 2011 I wrote to them from the address given in the owners section and did not get an answer for over 2 weeks. Finally got a email address from a friend who had dealings with them and got a reply in two days. Good luck getting the issue solved.
plasticman Posted June 29, 2011 Share #4 Posted June 29, 2011 I also wrote a couple of mails a while ago and received no reply. In retrospect, I think that because of language issues, questions can sometimes appear to be 'rhetorical' - that is, the customer service staff probably noted the contents of the mails, but assumed that they didn't require an answer. Someone would go to the trouble of sending Leica customer service a rhetorical question? This is a rhetorical question.

icemanhk Posted July 1, 2011 Author Share #7 Posted July 1, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) I got their reply finally. They just asked me to contact distributor, nothing more... Anyway, I will contact them in next week, most probably it needs to replace sensor. It is because my friend got same problem in last month, and he got replaced. icemanhk Posted July 4, 2011 Author Share #11 Posted July 4, 2011 Too bad I have sent my M9 to agent and on the way to Leica now... They look like wet / oil spot. It is easier to be found, because the color is lighter when comparing with the sensor color. rosuna, my M9 was delievered on 3-Dec-2009. What is your story? earleygallery Posted July 4, 2011 Share #12 Posted July 4, 2011 Oil spots are common on new M9's, clean them off yourself, pointless sending it back to Leica, you'll probably get some more as soon as you start using it again!
bruniroquai Posted July 4, 2011 Share #13 Posted July 4, 2011 Since 20th April that I bought my first leica M9 I have had six Leica M9, the last one, arrived one week ago and works fine, after a lot of calls and emails with andrea frankl and gabriele arnold (incredible people), and personalize specially for me. Spot troubles always. You can read on my blog: desdemiobturador my experience clicking on "google translate" for your language. rosuna Posted July 4, 2011 Share #14 Posted July 4, 2011 rosuna, my M9 was delievered on 3-Dec-2009. What is your story? During the first weeks of 2011, more or less, a series of cameras had problems with non-removable "particles" on the sensor. The cameras have to be sent to Leica. I think that was the case of bruniroquai.
k-hawinkler Posted July 4, 2011 Share #15 Posted July 4, 2011 ... "six Leica M9" ... I admire your determination. In the end, Leica improving their quality assurances, helps all of us Leica customers. Thanks, K-H.
charles-k Posted July 5, 2011 Share #16 Posted July 5, 2011 I have 2 M9's, and both when new have had like an oily residue, which made it next to impossible to clean myself. Both M9's separately were taken to a camera specialist centre, where the sensors were cleaned, and since then there have only been very minor loose dust, quickly resolved with a blower. Please read my post in this thread. The spots are not cleanable. They just oil spot like.
