Â I'm sure you are right but given the consequence of screwing my warranty I would really like to get some clarity on this from Leica before changing the dot myself. Not only does it not invalidate my warranty, but CS Solms takes great care to stick them on again when the have to remove them. Jaap, how were you able to remove the red dot? I have a DAG black dot that I'd like to use instead. DAG said to to twist the red dot back and forth until it came loose, but despite a lot of twisting it won't budge. To remove the white in the logo depression…. just brush on some of this solvent and the white will disintegrate. It’s also very easy to make a red dot black! In any case, some people are interested in replacing the dot, because they think it looks nice. I don't see a problem with that. I do agree with you that a camera is a picture-making-machine in the first place, but hey, I also put tape on my 1Ds Mark III if I take it with me on vacation. Just to make it look less attractive for potential thieves.  Check the threads on the forum about your M9 vs 5D mark II question. They are both very different machines. I wouldn't even consider selling my 1Ds even though the M9 is a great camera. For me both camera's have their own strengths and weaknesses. Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...
