I prefer the color one as well since it softness balances out the unforgiving decaying process.

edit: maybe I'd like the B&W as much is the contrast was dialed back a click or two ? ?

The B&W photo is an object in itself, while the color version is a beautiful "record" (to steal the word) of softly dying the flowers.
