ped Posted June 30, 2011 Share #21 Posted June 30, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) Interesting to hear about the Italy trip. I too went to Italy a few months ago and I took my R-D1 and my M4P. They made a great combination because the 28mm lens on the R-D1 is effectively a 40mm and was great for low light (f1.9) and colour shots. The M4P I loaded with ISO100 B+W film which was great for outdoor landscape stuff. Now I have a 21mm lens for it and it makes a gread companion for the R-D1. Think I have most situations covered now. I have to say I definitely think the quality of the film shots is much better than the digital files but unless I have fast film and a second film body I think having a fast digital is perfect. I can always carry ISO3200 film if the batteries run out or set the ISO on the R-D1 to 200 if the film runs out. ped

Stealth3kpl Posted June 30, 2011 Share #22 Posted June 30, 2011 Having returned from a trip to the Alps we were very satisfied with the results from my wife's digital camera. When my film shots came back from the pro lab we were blown away by the colours and contrast and quality and feel. In fact I decided to get a Ricoh Gr1s and a Rollei AFM35 to run alongside the Leica stuff. I'm loving my return to film. In fact we both are. robert blu Posted July 2, 2011 Author Share #23 Posted July 2, 2011 I'll go to Arles (South France) where very bright sun is the average daily light. I'll try the combo m7 + slide film (provia100F) and the x1 for low light (interiors) situation. I'll post some comments when back.
