Morning of the Iguana

This morning a small iguana was crawling around in our bushes. In the past I have seen really large ones... up to 3-4 feet not including the tail. Actually our Kitty chased a large one away a couple of weeks ago.

This morning however the iguana was small, perhaps three feet including the tail. The kitty did not seem to see it but the Iguana kept a good eye out for the kitty. I played with several shots using the 135 Tele-Elmar. I have trouble with the focus but nailed a couple. Just for fun... the Morning of the Iguana.

Thanks for looking.

Todd,

A stunning image.

Nice head shot, beautiful colors, and you really nailed the focus.

Thanks for posting.

I love the TE 135/4 as well. It's a phenomenal lens and excels particularly on a tripod.

I am using the lens with these magnifiers in sequence, Leica 1.4x then screwed on top 1.25x.

Works like a charm for me.

Best, K-H.

Thank you KH,

I have often wondered if the magnifiers would improve my hit rate with this lens. Sometimes I think it back focuses a tad and so I end up focus bracketing. Of course close up as with this shot a very small movement towards the subject can throw you off. The lens itself is long and relative to other Leica lenses is a touch more difficult to steady. This was a hand held shot. I have done some surf shots and then have used a tripod/mono-pod.

I did very little to the Iguana, a touch of sharp and clarity and a bit of color balance. The lens draws well and the color rendition is great.

Thank you Al, Paul.

The more I look at the image the more I appreciate the lens and what it is capable of... and of course the Iguana.

Impressive! I have been considering the 135 mm before and this photograph starts me up again. I do a lot of nature photography, I still keep me DSLR, but I never use it, a 135 mm and the possibility to crop should give enough reach for most situations.
