erl Posted February 26, 2012 Share #21 Posted February 26, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) The 12526 hood, IMO, is the only sunshade that is remotely effective for it's design purpose, that is made(?) by Leica. Certainly all the built in versions are a wast of space, just adding cost to production. I appreciate that compactness and portability are factors, but efficiency and effectiveness against flare really needs to have priority.
Advertisement Posted February 26, 2012 Posted February 26, 2012 Hi erl, Take a look here Hood for 35mm summicron asph?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
DKbRS Posted February 26, 2012 Share #22 Posted February 26, 2012 It looks like it probably is made in 2 pieces, but I can't unscrew the halves.
lct Posted February 26, 2012 Share #23 Posted February 26, 2012 It looks like it probably is made in 2 pieces, but I can't unscrew the halves. Looks like the silver 12504(?) hood which came with the silver Elmarit 28/2.8 asph of the M8.2 Safari but i may be wrong. Welcome, dear visitor! IWC Doppel Posted February 26, 2012 Share #25 Posted February 26, 2012 This is worth a look through leica.overgaard.dk - Thorsten Overgaard's Leica Sites - Leica 35mm Summicron-M f/2.0 rangefinder lens Pictures of there 12504 and 12585 on the 35 asph
BjarniM Posted December 29, 2014 Share #26 Posted December 29, 2014 I eventually sent my 35mm summicron asph to Solms for service and to check the hood. It came back yesterday and it's now perfect. Apparently the lens 'tube' had to be replaced but as it was under warrantly there was no charge. The hood is extremely robust now and cannot be knocked off. Tony I have a similar problem, with the hood on my Summicron-M 35 mm ASPH. When you say it is/was robust now and cannot be knocked off, just how tight is it sitting on the lens now? wpm Posted May 21, 2015 Share #27 Posted May 21, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) I agree that the 12504 would be the answer. I bought a new 35 summicron asph a few months ago with the lens hood that fell off at the drop of a hat. I contacted Leica in New Jersey and after a free to trip to Leica, it came back about 6 weeks later with a replaced accessory ring, their words, and a hood that stays put. I feel much more confident with it now. If it's under warranty and you can stand being without it for a bit, there is hope. I still think the round hood looks sexier. Frozen Posted January 14, 2017 Share #28 Posted January 14, 2017 I recently bought a 2nd-hand 35mm Summicron ASPH and it came with this hood. Is this one of the hoods that is being referred to in this thread? It's pretty secure when attached but I've been told that it is not the original hood for the lens. I don't like this hood as one can't use the lens cap with it. Do you have a source where to order this hood or a reference number? Thx
andybarton Posted January 14, 2017 Share #29 Posted January 14, 2017 I use a 12585 with my 35 Summicron ASPH and it's just perfect for the job. It's a bit deeper than the 12504 that I also have kicking about. Your dealer should be able to source one for you (sit down before he tells you the price), or there are is the Buy and Sell section on this forum or eBay, of course. There are lots of Chinese-made imitations, so if you want a genuine Leica one, make sure you know what you are buying.
Ronazle Posted January 21, 2017 Share #30 Posted January 21, 2017 DAG, Dagcamera.com, advertises numerous Leica parts and a screw in 39mm vented lens hood for USD $35. The Hood takes 52mm filters on its outside rim and has a slip-over lens (actually lens hood slip-over) cap with it. Looks interesting.
