Viv Posted May 9, 2011 Share #21 Posted May 9, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) The next UPgrade will not DEgrade the M9's capability to make photographs. If that capability is 'good enough' and fits your needs, why wait?
Advertisement Posted May 9, 2011 Posted May 9, 2011 Hi Viv, Take a look here M9 Supply and Demand. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
jaapv Posted May 9, 2011 Share #22 Posted May 9, 2011 OK, I bow to your vastly superior knowledge! And a visit to the factory is a very tempting suggestion. It is a pilgimage every Leica owner should make. I would recommend to do so this year, as Leica will be moving (probably) to Wetzlar next year. I'm sure the present factory is much more fun than the new one will be. A visit to Customer Service should be on the program as well.
wattsy Posted May 9, 2011 Share #23 Posted May 9, 2011 If you are happy not being able to make photographs while waiting for the next big thing, I advise you to save your money and don't buy anything as you really don't care about the art of photography and more about the gear.( Presumably the OP already has a camera to take photos with. Some of the comments in this thread are a bit rich if you ask me.

Since when being able to afford a $7k camera is related to the "art of photography" if i may ask? Most of us are using more than one camera here, and a mere Bessa can do marvels as far as "art" is concerned, so i don't quite see why we should buy each "big thing" as soon as it comes out... Paulus Posted May 10, 2011 Share #27 Posted May 10, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) I must say that my landscape - pictures improve slightly, since I make them with the M9 instead of the M8. Probably it has something to do with the full frame angle and the use of the same lens on M9 and film body. I cannot imagine a camera which would give me better light. Nor a camera with a better view finder, which would give me better view of the situation.
jaapv Posted May 10, 2011 Share #28 Posted May 10, 2011 Landscape is one of the areas where the higher pixel count of the M9 is an advantage. If you phograph a forest you can resolve 18 million leaves instead of 10 million

If you phograph a forest you can resolve 18 million leaves instead of 10 million I'm not concerned about pixels when I am photographing a Landscape.( It will help when I enlarge obviously ) It's just that the feeling is right with the M9. I didn't have that feeling with the M8. The M9 feels more like " coming home" to something a knew since I bought my first M6 in 1998.
jaapv Posted May 10, 2011 Share #30 Posted May 10, 2011 You should be concerned, landscape images are very often high frequncy images, where the resolution of the best Leica lenses and the M9 come together to put your vision in print And obviously you are concerned - otherwise you wouldn't be hanging around here or using such high-end gear for your work. You are right about that too., but my improved landscapes are in my opinion not made because of more / better pixels, but because everything seems to fall in it's place with the M9. I can only feel that. I could possibly make the same kind with my D3 but I don't anymore.
PBatemanJ Posted May 10, 2011 Share #32 Posted May 10, 2011 I thought same, images from my new M9 are significantly better than those from my M8. I am afraid that my M8 have something wrong with sensor. Warranty was just expired 10 days ago... SATOKI
ho_co Posted May 10, 2011 Share #33 Posted May 10, 2011 Call Leica if you think there's something wrong. So close to end of warranty might still qualify for warranty work. What kind of problem are you having with the sensor?
