dickgrafixstop Posted May 11, 2011 Share #41 Posted May 11, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) The venerable Pentax Spotmatic in 1966, For the price of a M3 body I bought a Spotmatic and four lenses in the Navy exchange in Sasebo and started fifty plus years of enjoyment. I couldn't trade it all for a genuine Leica lens shade now, but it got me started.

sblitz Posted May 11, 2011 Share #45 Posted May 11, 2011 i suppose my kodak brownie with the veripan 120 film, because it got me interested in photography from a very young single digit age. today when i look at those photos, square, b&w, unedited, unfaded, i can reach back and see family long gone and revive memories thought lost -- including the excitement of waiting for my dad to return with the developed prints. from there, the next true love was my canon tl-ql, which i still have and from which i learned about photography. today, it is my m9 -- and here's hoping my current love lasts. KM-25 Posted May 12, 2011 Share #46 Posted May 12, 2011 Ha, what a funny survey. If it had to be one camera, it sure as heck would not be a digital, it would be a tie between my M3 and FM3A. But none of them are the love of my life, my wife is and my life as a photographer a close second.
wildlightphoto Posted May 12, 2011 Share #47 Posted May 12, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) I wouldn't call it the love of my life but the camera I've most enjoyed using and the standard by which I evaluate others is the Leicaflex SL. Put an M9 sensor in it and it would be the camera of my wildest fantasies.

SJP Posted May 12, 2011 Share #49 Posted May 12, 2011 Ha, what a funny survey. If it had to be one camera, it sure as heck would not be a digital, it would be a tie between my M3 and FM3A. But none of them are the love of my life, my wife is and my life as a photographer a close second.M2 and FM2 for film, M8 for digital. I got the FM2 for my graduation (long time ago) and it still is one of the greatest SLRs - maybe the F3 is technically better (less mirror slap for instance) but having the (one but) last all mechanical SLR has its charm. The FM2 always felt like a very solid bit of engineering (can also be used as a hammer) but still the M2 feels considerably more solid.
