Advertisement Posted October 2, 2013 Posted October 2, 2013 Hi larsv, Take a look here The world from above - Game Thread. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
stuny Posted October 2, 2013 Share #2602 Â Posted October 2, 2013 Lars wins it, and the others are close. This is from restaurant Jaan atop the 70th floor of the Swisshotel Building. The restaurant is world class and would be in the first tier in any city.

Michael Geschlecht Posted October 4, 2013 Share #2606 Â Posted October 4, 2013 Hello Lars, Â Could we, perhaps, be across the Gulf of Bothnia in Sweden? Â It looks like about Latitude 60N in Europe, not Latitude 60N in the Western Hemisphere. Â Latitude 60N in the Western Hemisphere, of course, is much colder. It is (more or less) the North to South middle of the Western Shore of Hudson Baie. Â Best Regards, Â Michael
larsv Posted October 4, 2013 Share #2607 Â Posted October 4, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi Michael, Â It is Europe. Continental climate. Sweden is way too north. Â Kind regards, Lars
Michael Geschlecht Posted October 4, 2013 Share #2608 Â Posted October 4, 2013 Hello Lars, Â It appears to be East of what used to be the "Iron Curtain". Â Perhaps Poland? Â Best Regards, Â Michael
larsv Posted October 5, 2013 Share #2609 Â Posted October 5, 2013 Hi Michael, Â Heading in the right direction, but not there yet. Former east block is correct. Â Regards, Lars
stefans4 Posted October 5, 2013 Share #2610 Â Posted October 5, 2013 I certainly don't have the foggiest idea. So just a guess derived from these hints: former Eastern bloc; east of Poland; not too far north; navigable river (passenger ship in the picture). Â Some of the biggest Russian / Ukranian / Baltic rivers originate in the Valdai Hills: Volga (to Caspian Sea), Dniepr (to Black Sea), Daugava (to Baltic Sea). Could one of the rivers shown perhaps be one of them?

stefans4 Posted October 6, 2013 Share #2617 Â Posted October 6, 2013 (edited) Could this perhaps be "Erich's Lamp Shop" during demolition, circa 2005-8? Now they seem to be planning an "older" castle there... Strange world indeed... Â But the picture is beautiful. stefans4 Posted October 6, 2013 Share #2619  Posted October 6, 2013 Where are we now?  It should be easy but... I'm sorry, the image quality is not up to par with what we are used to seeing here in this forum. It was just a snapshot with a C-Lux 2... But perhaps someone is still able to identify the city.
