Michael Geschlecht Posted June 13, 2013 Share #2382 Â Posted June 13, 2013 Hello mnutzer, Â The architechture looks very much like Germany, or 1 of its neighbors. Â Best Regards, Â Michael
Guest Posted June 13, 2013 Share #2383 Â Posted June 13, 2013 Michael, you're right, it's Germany. Which county / town?
Michael Geschlecht Posted June 13, 2013 Share #2384 Â Posted June 13, 2013 Hello mnutzer, Â The roof angle of the buildings, more designed to deal with rain than snow, coupled with the flatness of the terrain, would lead me to assume we were in the Northern 1/2 of Germany, probably some what West of the Center. Â Best Regards, Â Michael
Guest Posted June 13, 2013 Share #2385 Â Posted June 13, 2013 Michael, Â very interesting thoughts, but steep roofs are preferable to my knowledge even when high snow loads are to be expected. The historic North German type for buildings preferred bricks and impressive facades shaped like stairs. In the western parts of Germany you could probably notice more wooden timbered and slate facades. You're right, it's a historic impressive town but not located to the area you presume. Â Kind Regards
Michael Geschlecht Posted June 13, 2013 Share #2386 Â Posted June 13, 2013 Hello mnutzer, Â If it is not in the North West Quarter of Germany, dividing it North to South in the middle & dividing it East to West in the middle also, Then: I would next say: North Eastern Quarter. Â Only leaves 2 quarters after that. Â Best Regards, Â Michael

Michael Geschlecht Posted June 14, 2013 Share #2390 Â Posted June 14, 2013 Hello mnutzer, Â Could this be some tributary of, or along, the Mosel? Â Best Regards, Â Michael
Guest Posted June 14, 2013 Share #2391 Â Posted June 14, 2013 Michael, no it's not the Moselle. I hope I did not give a misleading indication as I'm assigning the desired city to the southwest, because it is in the political southwest but less accurate in the geographic region. Germany is just a small country. Perhaps a hint to the river will help: It passes through or touches the borders of ten countries. Â Kind Regards

Guest Posted June 14, 2013 Share #2393  Posted June 14, 2013 Could this picture been taken from the top of this cathedral ?. So il would be ULM, Einstein's birth city...  Gérard   Gérard, you are right.  The town is Ulm at the river Danube and the photo was taken from the top level at 143 m (469 ft) of its cathedral-tower with the world's highest steeple measuring 161.5 metres (530 ft).  Nice photo, which lens?  Take over, please. gdb Posted June 14, 2013 Share #2394  Posted June 14, 2013 Thank you, Mnutzer.  Ulm is a very lovely city. Two years ago, I stayed in a funny hotel called "das Schiefes Haus", close to the houses on the foreground of your picture...  The picture of the Cathedral was taken with a S2 and the 35mm Summarit, at the end of the day.  Where are we now ?  Gérard   PS The EXIF of this picture may show Nikon, but it is a picture taken on film with a R5 and 35m Summicron, then scanned with a Nikon Coolscan.
