Advertisement Posted April 17, 2011 Posted April 17, 2011 Hi andreuagusti, Take a look here How to take out Leica M logo ???. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
stunsworth Posted April 17, 2011 Share #2 Posted April 17, 2011 Run a tooth pick around the edge of the dot, it'll begin to loosen and can then be lifted off with the pick. From memory there's a hole behind it with an adjustment screw - on an M6 at least.
Washington Posted April 17, 2011 Share #3 Posted April 17, 2011 I can’t help myself…. I would like to replace the red dot with black. Are these still available somewhere? And, if so, where? Thanks and cheers.

jaapv Posted April 17, 2011 Share #6 Posted April 17, 2011 Wiggle it with your thumb and work it loose with two toothpicks. It will slide off.
Washington Posted April 17, 2011 Share #7 Posted April 17, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) Thanks Andy, Roundels is a neat word!
adan Posted April 18, 2011 Share #8 Posted April 18, 2011 Keep in mind that the "roundel" covers a hole used for servicing. You can't just take it out to avoid having the logo - You must replace it with something unless you like dirt getting inside the camera!

Mmm, I think after that post prices went up. "Also I have some logos for the M cameras. Original Leica spare part. Max. order: two pieces 8 Euro each" Kind regards. sblutter Posted April 18, 2011 Share #10 Posted April 18, 2011 "Take it out"? Sounds like a gangster term - its not that offensive! (rotate it with a chop stick or similar - it'll eventually release)

250swb Posted April 18, 2011 Share #13 Posted April 18, 2011 I have one of the rarer M9's with a red roundel. Well, at least it will be if this madness goes on. I also wonder which end of the camera some owners look at most. I can't see the roundel most of the time, definitely not enough of the time to worry about it. You do all know you point the lens away from you if the idea is to make photographs? Steve
xrpix Posted April 18, 2011 Share #14 Posted April 18, 2011 I just put a piece of black gaffer cut in a round shape using scissors and the tip of a marker cap : stick a piece of gaffer on the marker's cap, cut all around with scissors following the cap's edge and stick back on top of the red logo. It takes no more than a minute.
