JazzyMac Posted April 3, 2011 Share #1 Posted April 3, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) I think I posted before about purple colors in my night shots. Now the color is all off! Tinted green, orange, purple...no matter how many changes I make to it or the IR filter I purchased or the settings. I've Googled, but I just want to know if this is a repairable situation? If so, do I need to send in the paperwork for repairing? Is it covered? (Just moved, boxes/paperwork still with movers)
Advertisement Posted April 3, 2011 Posted April 3, 2011 Hi JazzyMac, Take a look here Leica M8.2....Argh. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
ho_co Posted April 3, 2011 Share #2 Posted April 3, 2011 Can you post a sample? Sounds as if you're using an IR-pass filter, not a UV-IR Cut filter? Or was that just a typo? Certainly sounds interesting.
JazzyMac Posted April 3, 2011 Author Share #3 Posted April 3, 2011 Err, nope not sure what kind of filter it is... Hmm, samples...might take a bit.
ezc203 Posted April 3, 2011 Share #4 Posted April 3, 2011 Sounds to me like you're using an IR filter, as opposed to an IR-cut filter. A few samples would greatly help us figure out exactly what problem you're facing...
Guest Linsengericht Posted April 4, 2011 Share #5 Posted April 4, 2011 Sounds as if you're using an IR-pass filter, not a UV-IR Cut filter? Should be easy to identify, as it looks "black" for visual light.
jaapv Posted April 4, 2011 Share #6 Posted April 4, 2011 photographs belong in the photoforums. I have moved them to "other - digilux3 photos" Edit: Beginners mistake. I posted in this wrong thread; there were no images moved from here. Sorry. I'll leave the mistake standing to explain the subsequent confusion. lct Posted April 4, 2011 Share #7 Posted April 4, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) Jaap, it becomes difficult to follow threads like this if demonstrative pics are being exported elsewhere w/o providing a link to retrieve them imo. ho_co Posted April 4, 2011 Share #8 Posted April 4, 2011 I'm stumped. Can't find anything relevant by jaapv or JazzyMac in the likely time frame on the "Other" pictures page. Since I don't find any posts anywhere by JazzyMac with photos, my guess is that the pictures Jaap moved had nothing to do with the thread topic. (Only post by Jaap in "other - digilux3 photos" is http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-forum/other/174966-digilux3-photos.html#post1662573.)
plasticman Posted April 4, 2011 Share #9 Posted April 4, 2011 Extremely confusing. Seriously - what's going on? All of a sudden the moderators seem to be throwing their weight around about images that they arbitrarily consider inappropriate for a dizzying array of reasons. This was surely an image illustrating a camera fault? Searching for "Digilux3 photos" gives a totally unconnected thread that is 'bumped' today by Jaap. Is this some kind of late April 1 joke? I don't get it. Oh I see that Howard already found it - all v mysterious. But I'm really wondering about what's happening on the forum recently, I have to say.... Redridge Posted April 5, 2011 Share #10 Posted April 5, 2011 +1..... What's going on, this practice is out of the norm. Trying to help troubleshoot a problem shouldnt be painful process.
andybarton Posted April 5, 2011 Share #11 Posted April 5, 2011 Jaap is new to this Moderating business and it's a "learning on the job" deal. Cut him a little bit of slack, please. I have offered him some advice via PM (not that any of us get it right all the time... ) ) That said, Jaap is right in that only shots which illustrate a point being made to a particular thread are appropriate in non-photo threads. I don't know which shots were moved, but if they were just "Here's a shot taken with an M8.2" or similar, then they should be in the photo section
jaapv Posted April 5, 2011 Share #12 Posted April 5, 2011 Sorry guys, I see now what happened I made a technical mistake, Howard is right I did not move anything from this thread. The post should have been elsewhere. New to this, the forum has many options. The photos in the D3 thread have nothing to do with this thread
diogenis Posted April 5, 2011 Share #13 Posted April 5, 2011 Ha! Nice one Jaap! You deserved it! Always really helpful! That was a suprise I saw the blue lettering and then asked why were you using it Then I noticed the "moved" word and said how??? lol
ho_co Posted April 5, 2011 Share #14 Posted April 5, 2011 ...Edit: Beginners mistake.... Sorry. I'll leave the mistake standing to explain the subsequent confusion. Jaap, that's been the most fun we've had in this thread so far! MazzyJac may be posting in the Digilux 3 forum now, for all I know. At least, he seems to have lost interest here. JazzyMac Posted April 6, 2011 Author Share #17 Posted April 6, 2011 I never posted any pics...the color was irritating me so much I just packed everything up and mailed it to Leica Repairs in NJ today. Perhaps its a mistake, but no matter what filter I used, there was an issue...no filter, the same issue. I don't like discolored pics.
ho_co Posted April 6, 2011 Share #18 Posted April 6, 2011 Glad you're back, but it doesn't sound to me as if you're serious. Without a UV/IR-Cut filter, the camera produces strange colors in some situations. That's "buyer beware" stuff, not "funny colors" stuff. If you then bought a wrong filter (sounds to many of us as if you bought a filter made for black-and-white infrared use--many excellent threads on the topic here), that's also "buyer beware" stuff, not "funny colors" stuff. Sincerely, I'm glad you updated us on the situation, and I hope you get it straightened out soon. The M8 is a delightful camera, and one of few you can use for creative black-and-white infrared. We're here to help where we can!
