pop Posted June 9, 2011 Share #22 Posted June 9, 2011 ... is a forum section for competently made photographs that look like someone who might have a clue of how to use a Leica took them What's so difficult about that? Place all shots showing your right eye (blurred) in (sports and) leisure. Show all shots not showing your eye into other.

Rolo Posted June 9, 2011 Share #24 Posted June 9, 2011 Just a slight exaggeration, there, Gary I'm prone to that. However, point is that you personally have posted 3x as many posts as the whole world has posted in that Section in all time.
abrewer Posted June 9, 2011 Share #25 Posted June 9, 2011 I believe T&I was a new category added with the move from Leica's servers to Andreas' back in the day, not one that carried over from the very traditional pigeonholes originally made on the forum Perhaps it needs a different, broader definition of what we had in mind to go up there It would be a pity to take it down completely and lose anyone's work
Rolo Posted June 10, 2011 Share #26 Posted June 10, 2011 [quote=abrewer;173032 It would be a pity to take it down completely and lose anyone's work God forbid ! Not much risk of that though as a quick look reveals that most would go into the Car & Leisure Section and many are duplicates posted by German members. The other one is a landscape. MarkP Posted June 10, 2011 Share #28 Posted June 10, 2011 “I shall not today attempt further to define [street photography]; and perhaps I could never succeed in intelligibly doing so. But I know it when I see it….” Justice Potter Stewart, 1973 (attempting to define obscenity/pornography) :D:D
DES Posted June 12, 2011 Share #29 Posted June 12, 2011 I agree with this, it would be a good idea. I know what I mean by Street Photography, and no doubt some others will have a different take on it, but, we are all people interested in photography and I would love to see others view on this. I bet it would be a very well used area.....Come on, we are using Leica cameras!

pico Posted June 13, 2011 Share #32 Posted June 13, 2011 Human beings in their environment could be called street photography, especially if they show some unique relationship to the same. I doubt that 10% of this constituency could identify such. I say leave the categories People and forget Street Photography.
Guest Ming Rider Posted June 13, 2011 Share #33 Posted June 13, 2011 Yep, I probably photograph more Buildings, Graffiti, Cars etc than people. Still street though ??
prunelle Posted June 13, 2011 Author Share #34 Posted June 13, 2011 Yep, I probably photograph more Buildings, Graffiti, Cars etc than people. Still street though ?? Architecture or landscape. Street photography always imply people on a street or people on public places in general, even indoors.
daveleo Posted June 13, 2011 Share #35 Posted June 13, 2011 Since 90% of the photos posted under the "People" forum today are taken in public places, and the definitition of "street photography" is vague, why not just consider the "People" forum to be "Street Photography" ? If it splits into two subforums, somone has to lay down specific definition between the two. Actually, what does it matter if it's called "People" or "Street Photos" ? earleygallery Posted June 13, 2011 Share #36 Posted June 13, 2011 Architecture or landscape. Street photography always imply people on a street or people on public places in general, even indoors. Not so, as I've already pointed out. Street photography is much broader than that, but then of course there isn't a strict definition of what it is or isn't either! You can scarcely imagine broader.

spylaw4 Posted June 14, 2011 Share #39 Posted June 14, 2011 So is a shot of graffiti "street photography" or not? Regards, Bill Some would say yes, but then how can e.g. the side of a railway bridge be a "street"? Or a wall on some waste ground? For me - graffiti goes in "Other" no matter where it was shot. Leave the "People" section as is - it ain't broke, so.....
