cbretteville Posted January 28, 2007 Share #2 Posted January 28, 2007 Like the 'crop' and use of shallow DOF. Excellent B&W tones. - Carl
jmr Posted January 28, 2007 Share #3 Posted January 28, 2007 Steve, excellent, repeated almost-circles - very well seen and captured.
azzo Posted January 28, 2007 Share #4 Posted January 28, 2007 Very nicely seen, framed and captured. Is this image is treated with Alien Skin, Steve ? Azzo
grantray Posted January 28, 2007 Share #5 Posted January 28, 2007 Great tonality, (is it 640, 320 with pushed levels, or am I totally off-base?), as well as composition. -grant
stunsworth Posted January 28, 2007 Author Share #6 Posted January 28, 2007 Thanks everyone. Ivan, yes it was converted with Alien Skin's Tri-X setting. Grant, you're off base I'm afraid, it was shot at 160, the gritty look is provided by the Alien Skin Exposure conversion I've used. Here's the colour original. azzo Posted January 28, 2007 Share #8 Posted January 28, 2007 I realy like the results you're getting from this Alien Skin treatment Steve. It gives that extra punch a b&w image needs IMHO. Azzo
stuny Posted January 29, 2007 Share #9 Posted January 29, 2007 Steve - Very nice framing and selective focus. where the tap goes in looks (in the B&W) almost like a radiation hazard warning.
fotografr Posted January 30, 2007 Share #10 Posted January 30, 2007 I was curious to see a comparison between the Alien Skin conversion and the Power Retouche, also using the Tri-x 400 setting. I believe you were the one who recommended the PR program to me.
stunsworth Posted January 30, 2007 Author Share #11 Posted January 30, 2007 I think I was Brent :-) I still have and use the Power Retouch plugin. My view is that the Power Retouch changes the spectral response of the image, where as the Alien Skin also adjusts the contrasts and adds grain. Both are good plug-ins even if they give different results.
